The University System of Georgia (USG) is comprised of 26 higher education institutions as well as the University System Office (USO). Within the USO, our administrative operations are primarily housed in the Trinity Washington Building located in downtown Atlanta.
Location
University System of Georgia (USG) - 270 Washington Street, SW Atlanta, GA 30334. This position will be required to work on-site Monday through Friday.
Job Summary
This is a senior level paraprofessional position responsible for the provision of audio/visual (A/V) support services for higher education system employees at both on-site and off-site satellite locations. The position identifies and researches A/V equipment needs for facilities and events and performs technical setup. This position generally possesses authority to coordinate work of the "Audiovisual Technical/Paraprofessional" and "Audiovisual Technical/Paraprofessional Entry Level" positions and instructs them in specific techniques or technical methods for accomplishing work assignments or projects.
Responsibilities
- Provide production and meeting support including conference keynotes, Board Meeting, Town Hall or other special events.
- Provide exceptional customer service via phone, email, or in-person, as needed, pertaining to equipment and services available to meet audio/visual support requests from USO employees and guests.
- Direct A/V setup, audio, video, lighting and technical equipment breakdown for pre and post events. Facilitate the events and provide technical support as needed, including ADA compliance for A/V.
- Coordinate with meeting owners, ORS and TSS departments for equipment and professional assistance to ensure that events run smoothly.
- Assist end users in the usage of conference room equipment; and possess a high level of proficiency with A/V equipment.
- Perform operational and functional testing of all AV and Microsoft Teams room components/equipment. Oversee conference/meeting room equipment to ensure they are fully operational and ready for daily use.
- Coordinate maintenance and support for all A/V equipment. Assist with troubleshooting issues, schedule and manage service technicians for fixes/repairs, and schedule routine maintenance on A/V equipment.
- Develop instructional guides and provide training regarding AV equipment and setup to end users and BOR technical staff.
- Manage A/V equipment inventory and database, and oversee A/V equipment replacement cycles.
- Manage ticket system tasks assignments, acting as point of contact for end-user submitted trouble tickets.
- Ensure A/V assets are identified and labeled appropriately.
- Administer A/V hardware maintenance, repair, and replacement. Research and obtain quotes for audiovisual equipment.
- Manage A/V critical assessments on audiovisual systems and implement changes or repairs.
- Manage A/V integrator, A/V Service technicians and third-party vendors.
- Select vendors following BOR procedures for third party vendors and manage staff.
- Coordinate with Human Resources to perform BOR background checks on the A/V vendor's installation team.
- Assist with designing, planning, testing and coordinating technical setup for special events.
- Provide project management services for all A/V projects, including the design and implementation of infrastructure by third-party vendors.
- Engage the IT staff and route support requests to IT staff as needed.
- Actively participate in personal and professional development and maintain knowledge of current technology and emerging trends.
- Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Proven A/V customer support experience or experience as a client service representative.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
- Experience coordinating schedules, managing multiple tasks and prioritizing use of time.
- Over five years of experience in the operation and support of integrated audiovisual and presentation technology systems.
- Working knowledge of networked audiovisual systems.
- Basic understanding of troubleshooting complex audio visual systems.
- Software proficiency including but not limited to Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, WebEx, Microsoft Teams, and design tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) Preferred.
- Knowledge and experience using a variety of digital media production hardware.
