The Role
Summary of Job Description:
The Sr. Manager, Talent Acquisition position is a highly visible role responsible for partnering directly with stakeholders in Residential Services as a thought leader and trusted advisor. The candidate will serve as a consultant, leader, and problem solver responsible for setting and executing the talent acquisition strategy for the residential services business. This role will also advise business leadership on market trends and best practices in recruiting, help business and recruiting leaders optimize hiring strategies, scale best practices in talent acquisition, drive process improvements, make data driven decisions and deliver on key initiatives including diversity strategies.
Essential Job Functions:
- Manage, engage and develop a team of high-performing staff in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
- Manage the regional TA team capability to proactively source and build diverse candidate pools.
- Lead recruitment strategy for active requisitions, which provides an overview of the external market, as well as a firm understanding of the capabilities needed by the business.
- Create processes and procedures to effectively recruit qualified candidates into the organization.
- Partner with key stakeholders (Business Leaders, Hiring Managers, Hiring Teams, and HR Business Partners) to determine future talent needs and appropriate sourcing strategies; this requires a deep understanding through extensive market research of the channels where we can find the best, diverse talent.
- Conduct targeted leadership searches across Residential Services and various areas of the business to identify qualified candidates in a timely and efficient manner.
- Establish, track, and report key recruiting metrics.
- Manage college and technical school partnerships to ensure AvalonBay sources qualified interns and entry level candidates.
- Participate and/or lead HR or cross-functional project teams and initiatives related to HR, talent acquisition and the organization.
Non-Essential Functions:
- All other tasks as assigned by the manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Experience.
- Experience: 7 years of full life cycle recruiting experience preferably in real estate, retail, hospitality, or customer service-related industry.
- 3+ years of people management experience.
- Experience in both staffing agency and corporate recruiting are preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Possesses a keen eye for talent. Assesses candidates and match their skills/abilities to the position requirements.
- Effectively screens and interviews all levels of candidates from entry-level to director level roles.
- Exhibits knowledge of candidate sourcing vehicles and direct sourcing techniques.
- Provides excellent customer service skills and acts with a sense of urgency.
- Communicates effectively within all levels of the organization.
- Possesses organizational skills and demonstrates meticulous attention to detail.
- Works in a fast-paced environment and completes multiple tasks at the same time.
- Exhibits proficiency in Microsoft Office, applicant tracking systems and Outlook.
- Demonstrates strong project/account management skills.
- Operates independently with little or no supervision.
