DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Assisting students in evaluating their aptitudes and abilities through the interpretation of individual standardized test scores and other pertinent data, and works with students in evaluating education and occupation plans in terms of such evaluation.
2.
Remaining readily available to students so as to provide counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity.
3.
Taking an active role in interpreting the school's objectives to students, parents, and the community at large.
4.
Working with teachers and other staff members to familiarize them with the general range of services offered by the student personnel services department, and to improve the educational prospects of individual students being counseled.
5.
Supervising the preparation and processing of college, scholarship, post-secondary, and employment applications.
6.
Initiating, assembling, maintaining, and interpreting accurate cumulative records in SIS for assigned students.
7.
Orienting new students to the District, to school procedures and the school's varied opportunities for learning.
8.
Arranging for tutoring or summer school for educational reinforcement, as required.
9.
Initiating conferences with parents, when it is necessary, to help them better understand and assist in the educational, vocational, and personal guidance of their children, and is available for conferences upon parental request.
10.
Assisting in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy.
11.
Maintaining a current knowledge of trends and techniques within their field, and actively pursues continuous professional improvement through their performance evaluations and individual professional improvement plans.
12.
Following established budgetary procedures in the selection and requisition of instructional materials and equipment.
13.
Assuming responsibility for out-of-class supervision of students as assigned by appropriate administrative staff.
14.
Participating in curriculum development programs.
15.
Participating in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
16.
Have an active and working knowledge of computerized student information systems.
17.
Performing such other Duties and Responsibilities which from time to time may be requested by appropriate authorities.
EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with law and provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel (evaluated by appropriately certified staff).
