$22.00/Per Hour

Position Summary :
Operates van under all types of weather conditions. Transports students and other authorized persons over regular "to and from" school routes, on fieldtrips, extracurricular activities, and special or extra activity trips as authorized by school district officials. Serves as a courteous representative of the district on public roads.
Supervision and Controls over the Work :
The employee works with a high level of independence and professional discretion under the general supervision of a designated school administrator. The employee's work is governed, controlled, and evaluated by acceptable professional practice, school and district policies and regulations, provisions of Washington Administrative Code and Revised Code of Washington, direction of the supervisor, and performance standards and expectations as set forth in the collective bargaining agreement.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Transport assigned students to and from schools, shelters, transitional housing or other areas as necessary in a safe and timely manner.
  • Operate any and all vans on scheduled routes and/or on all types of trips in support of district approved activities, both within and out of school district boundaries.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections as required by State and district policy and procedure.
  • Maintain control of student passengers as related to safety. Report unsafe acts or conditions which require the attention of the Transportation Director and school building Administrator. Confer with parents when necessary.
  • Complete all records as required by State and district policy and procedures.
  • Operate a van in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington and district policy and procedures.
  • Operate and maintain all equipment and accessories, both inside and out.
  • Perform other driver related duties as directed by district policy and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Five years driving experience with a valid driver's license.
  • Possess a valid Washington State Driver's License and a clean driving record.
  • Successfully complete First Aid Class with CPR Training.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be abnormally loud on occasion.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work in outside weather conditions and be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, temperature fluctuations, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals commonly used in instruction and/or cleaning. It may be expected that the individual could be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials during the course of their duties. The employee may be exposed to infectious disease as carried by students.
The employee may be required to travel in school owned or leased vehicles while supervising and assisting students.
