Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is an anti-poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey, and Westchester County including emergency, transitional, and permanent housing. Our services extend to families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs, and others in need, including a special education preschool program.

Position: Sector Director, Rapid Re-Housing & Economic Empowerment

The Sector Director, Rapid Re-Housing & Economic Empowerment will lead and manage a portfolio of innovative programs focused on rapid rehousing for veterans and domestic violence survivors, workforce development initiatives for young adults, veterans, domestic violence survivors, and individuals with disabilities, and financial literacy programs. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong commitment to community service and a proven track record in program management, partnership development, and resource mobilization.

Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) is a community-based outreach program, we identify low-income veteran households and connect them with a range of supportive services to promote housing stability and prevent homelessness. Minimum Qualifications:

Requirements include a bachelor's degree with a minimum of five years of professional experience with at least two years in a supervisory capacity. A master's degree in a related field is strongly preferred. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with others on group tasks. Creative in developing strategies, highly organized, and responsive to work deadlines. Must have strong supervisory experience and budget oversight experience. Experience and familiarity with program management principles, particularly housing, workforce development, and financial literacy. Strong computer skills required.

Principal Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the management of program personnel.
  2. Oversee the management of program services.
  3. Oversee the management program of purchasing and property control.
  4. Oversee the management of program facilities.
  5. Serve as funding/regulatory agency liaison. Maintain community contacts.
  6. Prepare budgets and reports.
  7. Perform other duties that may be assigned.
