Work Location: Delicato Vineyards Manteca
Position Purpose
Reporting to the VP Production Finance, the Director of Cost Accounting manages the Cost Accounting team for all Delicato production locations and will lead and direct the cost & inventory accounting function for the production functions of the Company. The role will develop a strong partnership with the CRG, Winemaking, Winery Operations, Grower Relations, and Supply Chain Management teams to ensure accounting data and financial statements are accurately prepared in a timely manner. The role will provide leadership in the areas of cost analysis, cost accounting, and cost optimization across all organizations to ensure that reporting adheres to GAAP standards.

- Oversees, directs, and manages departmental activities and team performance.

- Executes departmental financial objectives by preparing budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective action.

- Coaches, guides, and develops direct reports; fully engages in the GPS (Performance Management) process; provides high-quality feedback, and ensures proper GPS documentation of employee performance, recognition, and deficiencies.
Essential Duties
- Manages and leads cost accounting team, which is responsible to set, report, and maintain the Company's Standard Costing Processes and Systems.
- Ensures all locations and production functions are accountable for consistent costing practices and procedures and comply with corporate policies.
- Establishes financial processes, performance reporting, and decision making support aligned with key strategies of Delicato Family Wines.
- Produces summary, monthly reports related to spending, cost accounting, and production activities.
- Consults on new product development including modeling of product costs and analysis of macroeconomic trends.
- Recommends and leads changes in cost accounting methods and procedures.
- Analyzes and interprets gross margins, cost variances, inventory movements, and other accounting reports as they relate to cost.
- Reviews and prepares performance analysis on a monthly basis as needed.
- Participates in the maintenance of the internal financial control environment ensuring accurate financial statements and safeguarding company assets.
- Ensures inventory value is fairly presented on financial reports.
- Supports and drives process improvement initiatives: process definition, accounting and reporting metrics, new product releases, inventory controls, BOMs and routings, budgeting and forecasting, cycle count program and metrics.
- Leads annual audit for inventory and cost accounting areas.
- Conducts, as required, assigned financial studies and surveys to collect, summarize, and analyze financial actions.
- Ensures departmental activities are consistent with meeting the company's stated commitments.
- Builds strong relationships with other functional leaders to recommend and implement solutions to company issues and financial IS system infrastructure improvements.
- Participates in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports as needed.

Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
- B.S. in a business discipline, preferably accounting or finance; MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of accounting and finance management experience in manufacturing, preferably in a wine or food environment.
- 5+ years leadership experience, including team management and communication.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Modern accounting, cost accounting, and financial concepts.
- Strong Excel spreadsheet and database skills.
Certificates and Licenses
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), preferred.
Working Conditions
- General office environment with occasional travel.
- Required to drive automotive vehicle or equipment.

California Pay Transparency Disclaimer: This is an Exempt position. The pay range for this position is $126,530.16 to $197,914.56. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity and alignment with market data.
