MATERIAL HANDLER (Distribution Center) move product for distribution, load and unload trucks within distribution center. Organize and maintain coolers and products. Use of Forklift, Spotter Truck and Electric Hand Jacks. Sorting and moving products and materials manually. Read work orders, purchase orders, and receive verbal instructions for work assignments. Fill and complete order receipts, and assemble orders in shipping containers. Verify shelf life of products. Transport filled orders to and from shipping area. Report damaged equipment and materials to Warehouse Supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Move product in the distribution center for transport.
· Use of Forklifts, Spotter Truck, and Electric Hand Jacks in a Safe and efficient manner. Obeying all operating procedures and safety regulations.
· Perform general physical activities in warehouse; loading, unloading, sorting and moving products and materials manually and using material handling equipment.
· Read work orders, purchase orders, and receive verbal instructions for work assignments.
· Fill and complete order receipts, and assemble orders in shipping containers.
· Complete all shipping, receiving, and order fulfillment paperwork thoroughly and accurately.
· Verify shelf life of products.
· Transport filled orders to and from shipping area.
· Mark containers with identifying information.
· Report damaged equipment and materials for Warehouse Supervisor.
· Use the JD Edwards inventory system and scanner gun to maintain proper product rotation (FIFO).
· Completing daily Material Handling Equipment and Spotter Truck inspections, complying with OSHA regulations.
· Perform all outbound drop trailer and live truck loading functions.
· Work with Lead/Supervisor to determine disposition of damaged product/cases.
· Recognize and report any quality issues to QA/Supervisor.
· Organize product within coolers and dry goods storage areas for FIFO processing.
· Attend staff and department meetings.
· Actively participate on EOE Teams that improve workplace safety, reduce waste and improve factory efficiencies.
· Report any and all injuries to your supervisor or manager at the time of injury.
· Complete all required training in a timely manner.
· May be required to work overtime if deemed necessary with occasional weekend work.
· Follow all Receiving and Shipping SOP’s.
· Perform cleaning duties as assigned and complete control point log for those assigned cleaning duties.
· Performs all other duties as assigned.
· Adhere to ERU food safety policies and all government food safety and sanitation regulations (ex. FDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA).
May:
· Act as backup for the receiving clerk
· Pull conversion orders as needed
· Assist in packaging as needed
· JD Edwards system entry
Qualifications/ Minimum Requirements
· High School Diploma or GED
· Forklift license or certification within first 2 weeks
· Experience with hand jack, hand saw, and other power equipment
· 1- 2 years experience in shipping and receiving, picking or packing, warehouse, or general labor
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers
· Basic computer skills including e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheets
· Experience with JD Edwards software and scanner guns
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work with automated equipment
· Ability to work in a fast paced environment
· Ability to multi-task and prioritize under pressure
· Ability to work in cross-functional teams
· History of good attendance
· Excellent organization, problem-solving, and spatial reasoning skills
· Detail-oriented nature
· Safety shoes are required for this position
· Basic computer skills including e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheets
· Ability to work with moderate supervision
· No travel required

The Material Handler may have to spend up to 8 hours sitting, getting up from a seated position and back in to a seated position, standing, bending, twisting, turning, using arms and hands for reaching, throwing, handling, and manipulating objects, lift items weighing up to 70 pounds (may use buddy lift), need to climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other climbing devices, be able to see naturally or with correction, to safely perform designated tasks .

The distribution center floor is a busy facility. The Material Handler will have exposure to a moderate level of constant noise that may make it difficult to concentrate. The plant conditions vary greatly in temperatures from hot and cold with exposure to dust and fumes. The Material Handler will need to be able to work with food grade chemicals required for proper daily sanitation of all equipment.
