Overview
The Supply Chain Category Manager is a highly cross-functional role that manages a product category through the end-to-end product lifecycle, bringing a product from concept through commercialization and beyond. You will guide the product through development and launch by ensuring timelines and cost targets are met. You will partner with internal teams and suppliers to consider lead times while monitoring inventory levels, placing purchase orders and tracking production to ensure sales goals are met. This individual will work with TPM and Accounting to remove excess inventory from discontinued finished goods and limited life items. The individual will be organized, flexible, able to meet time-sensitive deadlines and embrace learning in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
What You’ll Do
Master Data
- Own item master data and BOM management, governance, and data quality with other functional owners to ensure master data integrity across departments.
- Ensures master data integrity in NetSuite as well as maintaining the processes to support the ongoing data quality.
- Identifies areas for data quality and process improvements and helps to resolve data quality issues.
- Creates documentation and SOPs for Master Data governance.
New Product Launch
- Create, manage, and enforce the New Product Introduction timelines, from project initiation to completion of commercialization. Ensure programs are adhering to cost and inventory targets. Hold Ops and cross-functional team members accountable to tasks and deadlines.
- Drive weekly meetings with internal and external stakeholders, including Marketing, Product Development, Packaging, Finance, Creative, Contract Manufacturers and Suppliers.
- Gather requirements from internal partners and external vendors (i.e., regulatory, packaging requirements) and incorporate them into timelines.
- Manage the artwork approval process within your category, ensuring timeline adherence and compliance through stakeholders’ sign-off and approval.
- Communicate project status and risks, as well as influence change and improvements. Proactively identify and escalate issues/dependencies/gaps to execute risk mitigation plans.
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently with high attention to detail.
Supplier & Production Management
- Own execution of component and finished goods production plans and delivery schedules in support of optimized inventory, timelines, and costs. Partner with Inventory Planning to ensure a balanced level of inventory to minimize excess and obsolete inventory as well as avoid stock outs.
- Partner with Inventory Planning and Finance on component inventory at the supplier location. Ensure inventory balances are routinely reported/documented. Create component stocking programs where applicable to reduce lead times.
- Liaise with logistics team to determine and execute an optimal fulfillment of the supply plan. Balance cost of transportation and production availability.
- Continuously communicate production status and risks to all cross-functional departments. Actively escalate timeline and business risks to senior leadership.
- Identify current and anticipated supply bottlenecks and work with internal and external stakeholders to develop solutions or sourcing alternatives.
Supplier Relationship Management and Performance
- Create, foster and own strong working relationships with suppliers and contract manufacturing partners and key internal stakeholders (Inventory/Demand Planning, Logistics, Warehouse, and Product Development) to support a consistent flow of information, visibility to any potential problems and smooth operation of the overall supply chain, avoiding any supply disruptions.
- Define a regular cadence for supplier communication. Share out and escalate supply concerns to Leadership. Own supplier relationship management once development is complete.
- Manage overall supplier relationships including supplier performance, capability development, cost and quality improvements. Build effective supplier relationships and maintain communication.
Process and Continuous Improvement
- Refine and document supply chain processes and apply best practices to prepare for future growth.
- Identify opportunities and develop a plan to reduce manufacturing and logistics costs, optimize timelines, and minimize supply chain complexity in support of the Company’s plans.
What We’re Looking For
- 4+ years of experience in project management with a focus in supply chain or project management in beauty or related consumer products industry.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite is ideal.
- Standard MS Office applications.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously through excellent project and time management skills.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Extensive knowledge of the beauty industry a plus.
- Must have ability to work cross-functionally, build relationships and excel in a team environment.
- Experience working with vendors and outside stakeholders.
- Preferable experience working in a fast-paced start-up environment.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
