Primary Responsibilities:

Manage and coordinate activities involving operations and all sales activities to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations, and maximize profits by performing the following duties personally or through staff.

Essential Functions

  1. Responsible for All Sales-related Directives:
    Follow up on future bookings from all channels, including e-mail, phone, and fax from JTB Hawaii Travel, LLC, other transportation companies, and FIT customers.
  2. Correspond with customers regarding their inquiries and reservation requests. Handle the process from quote to collection.
  3. Visit business partners to increase sales and exchange information.
  4. Oversee Department Staff:
    Plan and discuss department goals, enforce organizational policies, objectives, and programs for the department.
  5. Monitor staff attendance, supervise, train, counsel, coach and motivate staff in the execution of their job responsibilities to achieve department goals. Evaluate job performance and reward or discipline staff when necessary.
  6. Responsible for carrying out personnel actions such as interviewing, hiring, training, handling any disciplinary action, planning, assigning, and directing work, and addressing issues and concerns, as required.
  7. Contact and communicate with Human Resources on any employee-related issues that may require immediate attention.
  8. Manage Organization Profit and Loss:
    Track results of sales, costs, and expenses in order to maintain budgeted directives, and maintain company’s profitability.
  9. Study, forecast and analyze market to conceive and conduct future direction and strategies. Monitor and analyze cost and selling price data to maintain company’s profitability.
  10. Propose and implement cost and expense reduction measures to increase company revenue.
  11. Responsible for All Customer Service Issues:
    Visit airport or other locations to observe our driving team in the handling with valuable customers/passengers, and advise Driver management team on any possible customer service skill improvement.
  12. Obtain feedback/comments received from JTB customers or other customers, and translate into English to share with Driver team to improve customer service level.

Secondary Functions:

  • Assist other departments or sections, as required.
  • Perform duties for Company events, or special events such as Honolulu Marathon, Honolulu Festival, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent years of experience.
  • Possess at least five (5) – seven (7) years of experience and at least five (5) of managerial experience.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills in speaking, reading and writing in both English and Japanese.
  • Possess leadership skills; self-confidence, motivation, flexibility, and possess sound business judgment and determination.
  • Possess knowledge of principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination and execution. This includes strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques and production methods.
  • Able to work independently and cooperatively with others, which includes employees, business partners, and customers in a professional and positive manner.
  • Possess strong knowledge of Japanese culture and customs, and tour characteristics.
  • Possess working knowledge of Hawaii’s tourism infrastructures, and Japanese tour characteristics.
  • Possess working knowledge of tour arrangement, basic business concepts and procedures, reservations concepts and procedures, and accounting procedures.
  • Possess working knowledge of computers and other office productivity machinery, such as a copier, printer, multi-line telephone system, cellular phone, facsimile machine, other standard office equipment and email.
  • Possess valid drivers’ license with clean driving history.

Working Conditions:

Working Hours: Normal business hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, weekends and holidays, as deemed necessary.

Environmental Conditions: Subject to varying weather conditions, including but not limited to, an air-conditioned office, noise, pollution, dust, vehicle exhaust and fumes.

  • Able to work with concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Able to multi-task and organize and coordinate work efficiently, set priorities, and motivate staff.
  • Able to exercise self-control and handle stressful situations, with employees and customers.
  • Constant – sitting, standing, walking, vision, hearing, eye-hand-foot coordination.
  • Occasional – carrying less than 25 pounds, running, bending.
  • Seldom – pushing, pulling/lifting less than 25 to 50 pounds, carrying 25-50 pounds, stair climbing, crawling, squatting, crouching, kneeling, stooping, forwarding reaching, twisting, side bending, climbing, overhead reach, grasping, handling, finger dexterity.
  • Not Applicable – pulling/lifting/carrying more than 50 pounds.

Communication Demands:

  • Constant – requires talking and written communication to co-workers, customers and outside trade persons/vendors, talking on the telephone, supervising others, responding to written or verbal requests of co-workers and vendors, receiving verbal and written instructions, writing/composing written language, reading.
