Southern California United Food & Commercial Workers Unions & Food Employers Joint Benefit Funds Administration, LLC (The Funds) were created more than 40 years ago as a result of collective bargaining between the Southern California Retail Food Employers and the Southern California UFCW Union Locals. The Funds serve in excess of 100,000 participants! There are two Funds, the Pension Fund and the Benefit Fund--through which member retirement and health and welfare benefits are provided.

The Funds Office is currently searching for a supportive Pension Analyst to join our growing Pension Department. In this member facing role, you will be responsible for customer service and administrative duties that support the defined benefit pension plan. The Pension Analyst will process pension requests that comply with the plan's written provisions and administrative policies, including performing benefit calculations and creating participant statements. This position is subject to Collective Bargaining.

General Responsibilities:

  1. Professionally and effectively communicate with plan participants, Local Union representatives and employer representatives, in person, on the telephone, email, or US mail.
  2. Meet with visitors and provide customer service by answering questions and responding to inquiries.
  3. Provide accurate and timely pension benefit calculations for plan participants. Accurately process and review benefit pension calculations and ensure accuracy of system-generated calculations.
  4. Review and verify benefit calculations prepared by other analysts.
  5. Ensure check runs are accurately balanced.
  6. Provide pension-related forms, brochures and other materials to plan participants, beneficiaries and Local Union representatives.
  7. Maintain current department knowledge of plan documents, summaries of plan provisions and other plan materials.
  8. Maintain internal production expectations, including quality of processed pension plan applications and quantity of pension applications.
  9. Meet or exceed established department production standards on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  10. Accurately update internal systems with new retirement information including updates to existing retirement records, participant data and pension data.
  11. Recommend process improvements for internal workflow, system processes and updates to benefit plans.
  12. Successfully complete work assignments within quality, quantity and timeframe expectations and department standards.
  13. Coordinate training with department employees when possible.
  14. Regular and consistent attendance.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Mathematics or related field or a combination of education and experience.
  • Able to utilize MS Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) required.
  • Stellar customer service skills with the ability to build rapport with members.
  • Able to manage multiple projects with various deadlines strongly desired.
  • Communicate professionally with beneficiaries, families and internal teams and follow up for satisfactory resolution.
