Overview
The Sterile Processing Tech I is responsible for the sterilization, inventory, and distribution of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment in accordance with hospital standards with an emphasis on maintaining a clean work environment.

Qualifications
High School Diploma/Equivalent is required.
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) preferred.
The Sterile Processing Tech I is responsible for the sterilization, inventory, and distribution of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment in accordance with hospital standards with an emphasis on maintaining a clean work environment.
Responsibilities
- Issues supplies and equipment. Retrieves equipment that has been issued daily and cleans and disinfects prior to re-issuing. Replaces sterilized items to shelves or issues sterilized items to the end user. Removes supplies from shelves and re-sterilizes as necessary.
- Proficient in use and administration of instrument tracking system. Competency & handling of all surgical instrumentation, current or new.
- Responsible for all SPD related equipment operation and general maintenance.
- Follows established protocol for handling, cleaning, and sterilizing instruments, supplies, and equipment as directed.
- Follows the established protocol for obtaining, charging for, and returning supplies/equipment and maintains adequate supply levels through the use of accurate inventory control.
- Is alert to any defective or missing equipment or instrumentation and reports to Manager immediately.
- Maintains a high standard of cleanliness in the entire work area.
- Maintains a professional relationship when working with operating room personnel to ensure the instruments are cleaned, inventoried, sterilized, and available for patient use.
- All other duties as assigned by department.
Qualifications
