Job Overview


As the Director of Business Insights, you will lead a team that harnesses data for strategic advantage, driving transformative insights for our Digital & Customer Journey organization. You'll cultivate a culture of innovation and excellence, leading your team to turn complex data into compelling narratives that inform critical decisions. Acting as a trusted advisor, you'll ensure business insights products align with and propel the strategic goals of your stakeholders. Your leadership will inspire and develop top talent, making a significant impact on the Enterprise Data & Analytics organization.


What You Will Do


  1. Lead, mentor, and coach managers and individual contributors reporting to this position and actively raise the talent bar across the Enterprise Data & Analytics Team.
  2. Act as a trusted business partner to one or more executive stakeholders.
  3. Understand stakeholder business objectives and effectively disseminate this information to team members, ensuring alignment and strategic support.
  4. Direct the transformation of complex data and analytics into compelling narratives that drive understanding and action among stakeholders.
  5. Guide the team in using storytelling techniques to highlight key insights, trends, and opportunities, making data accessible and engaging for diverse audiences.
  6. Present findings and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.
  7. Ensure that interactive dashboards align with the broader business strategy and objectives. Offers feedback to refine dashboards and enhance their storytelling and decision-support capabilities.
  8. Collaborate with BI COE, Data Engineering and Data Governance teams to ensure the realization of data strategies, architecture guidelines, and standards.
  9. Oversee accuracy, reliability, and integrity of business insights by implementing data validation and quality control processes.
  10. Drive continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality, including developing processes for automation.
  11. Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in data analytics and business intelligence.
  12. Promote a culture of continuous improvement through mentoring, feedback mechanisms, and performance metrics.

Skills You Will Need


  1. Analytics Leadership: Demonstrated experience as an analytics leader in e-commerce, retail, or consulting, with a strong understanding of business acumen.
  2. Visionary Thinking: Ability to establish the future vision of Analytics tools and analysis frameworks, including embedding customer metrics into the digital business dialogue. Capability to think creatively, strategically, and technically to drive business outcomes through analytics.
  3. Stakeholder Management: Proactively engages executive stakeholders to understand their challenges and goals. Ability to have a business-first viewpoint.
  4. Business Acumen: A trusted business partner with in-depth knowledge of their stakeholder's operations and key objectives/metrics.
  5. Technical Acumen: Understands our data pipelines and ability to lead BI configurations, advanced report programming, and technical queries (SQL, R, Python, etc.), and BI automation capabilities.
  6. Communication Skills: Effective communication of technical information and solutions to all levels of the business, along with the ability to articulate technical issues clearly.
  7. Ownership Mentality: Desire and ability to take ownership of products/projects, driving them towards successful outcomes.

Who You Are


  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  2. 7+ years of experience driving data insights and building comprehensive dashboards in a retail/e-commerce enterprise setting.
  3. 2+ years in a People Leader role.
  4. Proficient in advanced data analytics; transforming complex data into clear and actionable insights.
  5. Skilled in using analytical and BI tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
  6. An ongoing learner that influences others to think innovatively.
  7. Ability to connect data insights to business strategies and objectives and transform business requirements into compelling presentations, reporting, and dashboards that drive business outcomes.
  8. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex issues and insights to a variety of stakeholders, including non-experts.
  9. Passionate about solving customer and business problems.

  11. Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
