Field Operator
South Bend, IN
The Field Operator works as part of a team in a continuous process manufacturing environment. The Process Operator will adhere to all safety and environmental parameters that apply in a chemical manufacturing operation. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Process Operator is jointly responsible for ensuring production targets are being maintained while meeting all quality parameters for finished product.

South Bend Ethanol, LLC , is the most recent plant acquisition. As a global leader in the renewable energy industry, this will be Verbio's second US production facility following the successful commissioning of its Nevada, IA plant. The site will be developed over the next three years incorporating Verbio's advanced engineering and operating technology practices. Verbio intends to expand and develop the plant into a modern biorefinery at an estimated total investment of $230 million.

WHAT WE WILL EXPECT FROM YOU
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent certificate required
- Associate technical degree certification preferred
- Experience working with a Distributed Control System (DCS) preferred
- Exceptional time management, work ethic and dependability
- Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with various levels of management throughout the organization
- Effective communication skills and the ability to resolve problems quickly and efficiently
- Ability to adapt to a fast paced environment
- Able to work rotating 12 hour shift schedules
- Physical requirements include, but may not be limited to, walking up and down stairs/ladders, working at heights and carrying up to 50 pounds
- Routinely review the operation of the plant to monitor production and quality, anticipating and solving problems in a timely manner, and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Participate in projects to improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
- Control plant activities thru the distributed control system (DCS)
- Maintain adequate records of key production variables such as production volume, yield, plant uptime, utility consumption, etc., on a daily, weekly, and/or monthly basis, as required
- Communicate directly with QA/QC laboratory to ensure effective participation in the implementation of QA policies and procedures
- Sample and test process streams as required by the QA/QC program and procedures
- Understand and implement start-up and shut-down procedures for given area or areas
- Maintain QA/QC records
- Understand and interpret QA/QC results and take appropriate action when required.
- Communicate directly with the maintenance department to coordinate maintenance and repair work in process areas
- Perform preventive maintenance activities as required
- Assist maintenance technicians in performing maintenance and repairs
- Work in a safe manner at all times
- Participate in programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness
- Monitor use and inventories of process chemicals and supplies
- Fill out Permits correctly and in a timely manner.
