Salary: $23-25/hour and stipends for retreat weekends
Organization Overview: Congregation B’nai Israel (CBI) is an inclusive, welcoming Conservative synagogue renowned for its exemplary youth programs. Our vibrant USY chapter, recognized as a “Chapter of Excellence,” is integral to our multi-generational growing community.
Position Overview: CBI seeks a part-time Youth Director to build upon our thriving USY community, plan and implement programming, and facilitate relationship-building through experiential educational experiences. The ideal candidate will provide nurturing leadership to our youth while efficiently managing all operational aspects for program success.
Youth Director Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the USY Teen Board to plan and execute a dynamic year-round calendar of youth events, including regular programs (monthly Shabbat Club, twice a month USY events & board meeting, monthly machar/kadima event), annual retreats and special events (regional, holiday, etc).
- Co-develop and manage the USY budget in coordination with professional and lay leaders.
- Maintain clear communication channels with parents and teens, sending weekly newsletters and reminder texts as needed as well as serving as a liaison to regional and national USY.
- Engage in recruitment and retention for CBI Youth Programs.
- Provide monthly board reports and attend board meetings as required.
- Participate in weekly synagogue staff meetings.
Role Model and Code of Conduct:
- Serve as a passionate and authentic Jewish role model and uphold Conservative Judaism values and practices in all interactions with youth.
- Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all youth, maintaining appropriate boundaries and the highest degree of professionalism and integrity in all interactions with youth, parents, and the greater community.
- Undergo a comprehensive background check prior to hiring and periodically thereafter.
Qualifications:
- Previous leadership experience in Jewish youth/experiential programming (USY, camp, etc).
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain nurturing, warm presence with youth and parents while upholding professional boundaries.
- Strong project management, administrative, and budgeting skills.
- Collaborative mindset, empowering youth to “take the reigns” and work effectively with volunteers, staff, and clergy.
- Knowledge of Jewish values and culture.
- Evening and weekend availability for programs and events.
- Proficiency in social media, database/CRM, Microsoft suite.
