School Social Worker
Irving School is seeking a collaborative, school social worker to join our team
Student AchievementProvidesto teachers in creating curricula and providing instruction that supports the social and emotional health of the students and the school
  • of emotional difficulties on student learning
  • Observes and assesses students
  • Lead discussions among students on issues related to students' behavior, emotional health, and social skills
  • Regularly communicates with families about strategies to support their child at home and school and the resources available within the school and broader community
  • Builds relationships with community organizations that provide health, mental health, recreation, and social support for families and make referrals for families as necessary
  • Serves as a resource for families on issues in the home that impact student success at school
  • Facilitates parent workshops focused on supporting families with mental health

  • Participates with the pupil personnel team in the ongoing effort to establish a school culture that reinforces the school's mission, goals, and operating principles
  • Actively seeks out ways to continually improve his or her own practices in order to increase effectiveness in his or her role
EXPERIENCE
  • CT CertificationExperience working with students in under-resourced communitiesall students
  • Demonstrated ability to set and reach goals that will ensure high levels of achievement for all students
  • Demonstrated ability to involve families as partners
  • Excellent communication skills (written and spoken)
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice
