Must-Haves:

    • 4-slides: Minimum 1 year
    • Tool Design: Minimum 5 years

Job Description:

As a Tool and Die Maker , you will analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to fabricate or repair cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.

Essential Functions:
  1. Study specifications (blueprints, sketches) and plan operations.
  2. Measure, mark, and layout metal stock for machining.
  3. Set up and operate machine tools (lathe, milling machine, shaper, grinder).
  4. Secure parts using devices like vises and angle plates.
  5. Assemble parts using hand tools.
  6. Verify dimensions with measuring instruments (micrometers, height gauges).
  7. Modify standard tools as needed.
  8. Develop specifications and sketch tools to be fabricated.
  9. Communicate with coworkers and supervisors to coordinate activities.
  10. Inspect and measure parts for quality control.
  11. Obtain first-piece inspection of samples.
  12. Troubleshoot tool, machine, or material issues.
  13. Set up tooling in various production equipment.
  14. Maintain an organized and safe work station.
  15. Follow all safety rules and procedures.
Competency Requirements:
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding instructions in English.
  • Ability to measure parts with tools and gauges.
  • Basic math skills (geometry and trigonometry).
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand tolerances.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
Minimum Educational Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of experience with manual tool room equipment.
  • In-house training on assigned machinery and equipment.
Minimum Physical Requirements:
  • Use hands 100% of the time.
  • Stand/walk 100% of the time.
  • Bend/stoop/twist 50% of the time.
  • Lift and carry up to 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Work in a shop environment with exposure to metalworking machinery and equipment.
