Job Summary

The Director of Sales is responsible for formulating, planning, and overseeing sales plans and strategies for customer acquisition, upgrade, and retention through the direct sales channel, including call center, multiple dwelling units, door-to-door, retail operations, business class, and community-based events.

The Director of Sales provides leadership to all in-house and contract sales vendors to achieve maximum results.

The Director of Sales leads and directs all call center sales, retention, quality, workforce management, training delivery, and operational functions supporting MaxxSouth Broadband’s objectives for sales, growth, profitability, and visibility while enhancing brand equity and awareness.

The Director of Sales reports directly to the Vice President, Customer Experience.

Direct reports to the Director of Sales include the Call Center Manager, Retail Manager, Sr. Manager Business Development, and Manager Residential Sales.

Essential Job Functions

The Director of Sales is accountable for the following items:

  1. Managing and participating in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of all Sales programs and activities;
  2. Assuming management responsibility for all services and activities of the Sales Department within the facility including sales tools and materials, proposals, sales calls and contracts;
  3. Developing and achieving sales objectives through setting quotas, sales pitch approval, and product presentations to sales staff;
  4. Directing the achievement of call center key performance indicators including service level, quality, revenue, productivity/efficiency, reliability and attrition objectives;
  5. Performing on-sight training, coaching, skill development, and direction to Managers, Supervisors and contract sales organizations, including the enforcement of organizational selling standards.
  6. Analyzing sales trends and productivity with recommendations for improvement;
  7. Communicating and updating the executive team through analysis and reporting of business opportunities, results, trends, and competitive information;
  8. Demonstrating and enhancing the sales process by coaching sales representatives for superior customer satisfaction. Overseeing the process of providing effective resolution of all customer problems;
  9. Participating in the development and administration of the annual budget; forecasting additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; directing the monitoring of and approval of expenditures; directing and implementing adjustments as necessary;
  10. Creating and implementing business building programs for direct sales through the marketing team. Partners with key programmers and the Marketing team in developing and implementing business-building programs including offers, incentives, and training;
  11. Following and enforcing the Company’s policies and procedures, including the EEO guidelines, at all times;
  12. Performing any miscellaneous department duties as needed.
Job Requirements

Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related industry management experience – required
  2. Minimum ten years of leadership experience successfully developing and executing recent and relevant sales team operations
  3. Minimum ten years of leadership experience in sales – required
  4. Strong track record of building relationships and generating sales – required
  5. Strong PC and data processing skills; working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, as well as database management software – required

  3. Reliable means of transportation at all times;
  4. Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company standards at all times;

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

May include walking, kneeling, standing, stooping, sitting, driving, hearing, talking, vision (close, distant, color, depth perception, adjust focus), and use of hands and fingers. Light lifting of 25 lbs. may be occasionally needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  1. The Director of Sales is a salaried exempt position. The Customer Operations division is in operation seven days a week, 24 hours a day. The regular working hours may vary to accommodate the needs of the department.
  2. The Director of Sales is required to drive on the job as needed and is subject to regular MVR checks. She/he must maintain a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that meets Company standards for an insurable driver at all times. Any time these conditions are not met, he/she must not drive on the job and must immediately report it to their supervisor.
  3. The Company is a drug-free workplace. All employees are required to adhere to the Company’s drug-free workplace programs and policies. Pre-employment testing is mandatory along with random testing throughout continued employment.
  4. This position requires the Director of Sales to work onsite, within the major markets, Monday-Friday.
  5. The duties assigned, the hours worked, and the status of this position is subject to change as the needs of the company changes.
