**Experience:** Minimum 1 year; Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program
**License:** Licensed Surgical Technologist in the state of Colorado required
**Certifications:** Basic Life Support (BLS)
**Must-Have:** Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
**Job Description:**
- Assist during surgical procedures by ensuring and maintaining the integrity of a sterile surgical field and providing instrumentation as needed to the surgical team.
- Participate in unit activities that assure high levels of quality related to patient care.
- Function under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique, combining knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation of tools and technologies in performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
- Function with working knowledge of AORN standards.
- Maintain and check all items for proper packaging, processing, moisture, seal and packaging integrity, sterile indicators if present, and expiration dates.
- Ensure that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
- Work towards competency or be competent with Tier 1 surgical cases.
- Maintain flexibility while contributing to the individualized, ongoing delivery of care within the scope of practice.
- Model effective, timely communication with the perioperative team with full participation in the Time Out Process, including Briefings and Debriefings.
- Assist the team in patient transports, room turnovers, and room preparation.
- Model professional behavior, including maintaining currency in new technologies and procedures, including instrumentation and equipment.
- Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
