What you'll do

The Platforms Engineering group within the Global Engineering organization manages our VSAT transport infrastructure and develops the associated standards. This includes designing and maintaining Newtec Dialog and iDirect networks, testing new hardware, commissioning, developing system standards, and technical writing and documentation.

As RF Platforms Engineer, you will be based in our Broussard, Louisiana office with a hybrid work setup. You will be responsible for developing and documenting standards for our RF technology, antenna vendor support, and ensuring the infrastructure works flawlessly. In addition, the Platform Engineering team manages our spectrum monitoring tools and OBM systems.

The Platform Engineers collaborate with vendors and manufacturers to seek improvements and replacements to current product components, which may include occasional visits to our suppliers and testing new equipment to assess its fit for our infrastructure.


The day-to-day

  • Design, configure, and provision VSAT transport systems and services through Newtec Dialog, IDirect Evolution, Comtech SCPC, and Newtec SCPC.
  • Arrange installation, commissioning, and ongoing support of teleport-based services.
  • Update documentation and drawings relating to VSAT transport infrastructure, as well as documenting Method of Procedure and changes occurred in the process.
  • Lateral consultation/in-house support for Customer Engineering / Global Engineering / Operations and our CSC.
  • Take ownership of major incident critical issues.

  • Participate in the global on-call rotation, providing 1 week cover as part of the team rotation.

What you'll need

  • Proven experience supporting enterprise VSAT systems with 8 years of experience in the field.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience.
  • A strong understanding of RF theory and principles.
  • Understanding of link budgets.
  • Familiarity with teleport infrastructure.
  • Broad background in remote antenna systems such as Seatel/Cobham, Intellian, Auto-Acquire, and fixed antenna systems.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting Comtech and Newtec SCPC modems.
  • Networking experience.
  • Knowledge of network QoS and routing protocols (i.e., BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VPN, QoS, MPLS).
  • Ability to work well individually or on a globally distributed team, and interest in guiding and mentoring peers in developing their skills.
  • Ability to understand global processes and standards, and work with peers to further develop and deploy new processes.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Solid knowledge of Office 365 suite and Visio.

Salary range

$113,100.00 - $196,400.00 / annually
