Job Summary:
To perform student accounting functions such as maintaining student accounts, reconciling ledger accounts, preparing reports, administering refunds, processing payments, and responding to student inquiries. To review policies, analyze complex financial data, and prepare student statements, and revenue projections.
Education & Experience
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field and one (1) year of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, and practices. Skills in the use of personal computers, Excel, Word, and related accounting software applications. Interpersonal skills, and ability to analyze, gather, and report data and/or information. Verbal and written communication skills. Record maintenance skills. Ability to create, maintain, and update databases and spreadsheets. Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative working relationships.
Responsibilities
  • Provide quality customer service to all customers, co-workers, students, faculty and staff regarding their accounts.
  • Analyzes student accounts, records charges, provides refunds, processes payments, reviews student accounts receivable, general and subsidiary ledgers, and other accounting documents for accuracy and completeness; investigates and resolves questionable entries.
  • Respond to inquiries from students, parents and staff regarding their accounts, billing, payments and financial transactions. Ensure clear, accurate and timely communication through various channels including phone, email or in person meetings.
  • Assist, analyze, and implement appropriate solutions for students, parents, and other UMMC offices with questions and problems regarding student accounts.
  • Monitor both Student Accounting and Student insurance mailboxes, address email inquiries, tackle as well as forward emails to responsible parties.
  • Collaborate with other staff members and inter-departments to ensure seamless financial operations and support student activities.
  • Work with cashiers to open and close.

Requires occasional exposure to bio-hazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, frequent activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, frequent work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, frequent bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, constant sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more).
