Position description

The Department of Communication at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the area of technology, organizing, and the future of work. The successful candidate will specialize in the study of new and developing forms of organizing at the intersection of communication, technology, and social systems, which may include remote and distributed work, innovation and organizational change, collective action, knowledge and learning, and interactions that occur in a variety of traditional and emerging contexts.

We seek a scholar with expertise in organizational communication who complements the department's core areas and enhances its national and/or international visibility. The successful candidate will be concerned with justice, equity, and inclusion and will conduct research that intersects with that of other faculty in our department.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application): Completed all requirements for a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in a Communication or related social science field except dissertation by the time of application.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start): A Ph.D. (or equivalent) in communication or a related social scientific field by the time of appointment, with a desired start date of July 1, 2025 or later.
