We are currently seeking a Logistics Director to join our team and contribute to the achievement of our organizational goals. The Logistics Director is responsible for managing all aspects of freight spend and service levels. This role will involve daily oversight of the scheduling and delivery of inbound ingredients, outbounds finished goods, and transfers of material and ingredients from facility to facility. This will require close coordination with production, warehousing, and sales. The position reports directly to the Vice President of Supply Chain and demands exceptional communication skills. The ideal candidate for this role will be an advocate for best practices in load planning and on time delivery. Responsibilities for the Logistics Director include:
- Oversee the planning, scheduling and execution of inbound and outbound freight
All temp classes
LTL’s and TL’s, both inbound and outbound
100+ of outbound shipments/week from three different facilities
60+ of inbound shipments/week into four different facilities
- Manage relationships with existing carriers while bringing on new carriers.
- Create, maintain and report carrier KPI’s on regular basis focused on cost, service issues and timeliness.
- Drive efficiency in shipping and receiving processes, by improving the in and out times of carriers on our docks to better than industry standard.
- Oversee the tracking of shipping costs by load, pound, mile and carrier.
- Execute regularly scheduled RFPs on inbound and outbound freight lanes. Move carriers as required.
- Manage and coordinate the shipping and receiving of three internal and two external docks
- Oversee three load planners.
- Managing relationships with our rental vendors and overseeing rental equipment (trailers, tractors)
- Spearhead daily “Critical Issues” responses and resolutions as required.
- Working with sales, scheduling, production and operations teams to solve problems and improve efficiency and service.
- Availability off hours to assist and resolve shipping and receiving issues.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulating entities and to published standards.
- Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or related area.
- 5+ years of experience in logistics field, with temperature control experience.
- 2+ years of experience in logistics, overseeing a team or department.
- Approximately 10% travel
- Must be available to respond to work issues on nights and weekends as required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Must be able to work in a cold environment when needed
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Temperature: The production floor is maintained at approximately 40F; in other areas, the temperature level is moderate. Freezer areas are zero degrees or colder.
- Noise: When the incumbent goes on to the production floor, ear protection is required; in other areas, noise level is moderate.
