Job Summary
This is a scientific position for a biologist who is interested in translational research and familiar or experienced with animal studies and disease models. This position is needed to execute the proposed experiments in our recently funded grant from the Department of Defense on dried platelet extracellular vesicles in traumatic brain injury and hemorrhagic shock. This position will provide opportunities to publish groundbreaking research in the field of trauma and critical care medicine. Opportunities to learn and contribute to new and ongoing research in the lab are part of this position.
Note: This position requires a physical/health screen.
Department Description
Clinical Laboratories at UCSF Medical Center perform diagnostic or lab tests for patients in our hospitals and clinics as well as for our researchers. These tests are performed in the areas of chemistry, hematology, immunology, microbiology, molecular diagnostics, toxicology, and transfusion medicine.
Required Qualifications
- SRA I: B.A./B.S. Degree in Molecular Cell Biology or related field science and knowledge/experience with the basic techniques/methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- SRA 2: Two years of research lab experience (experience in techniques in Molecular and Cell Biology) and one or more years of recent/directly related work experience following degree completion, utilizing the techniques or methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with animal models.
Preferred Qualifications
- Rodent model experience.
- Mouse surgery.
- Tissue staining, immunohistochemistry, western blotting, ELISAs, RNA work.
- Immunofluorescence microscopy, bright field microscopy.
- Tissue sectioning.
