JOB SUMMARY:RCHSD Chadwick Center is a fully accredited hospital-based children's advocacy center (CAC), a child-friendly place that provides family-focused and trauma-informed services to help children and families heal from abuse and other trauma.The PAR III provides front desk coverage and customer service support for Chadwick Center's clinical programs. Our clinical programs include 1) Forensic and Supportive Services, providing forensic interviews and 2) Child Abuse Pediatrics providing child abuse medical examinations to support the investigation of potential child abuse by law enforcement or child welfare services, advocacy services to connect families to victim support services and other resources, and short-term mental health services; 3) Trauma Counseling, providing long-term trauma counseling services for children age 0-18 and adults who have experienced child abuse and other trauma; 4) and KidSTART Clinic, BrightConnections, and Trauma Prevention and Early Intervention services, providing early childhood mental health behavioral health services for children age 0-5.Under supervision by the Director of Clinical Operations, the Patient Access Representative III (PAR) is responsible for front desk and client check-in duties for the center, including securing and providing appropriate medical business information to/from patient families and funding sources. The PAR completes client registration and scheduling, obtains authorizations for patient services, and responds to internal and external customer inquiries including multi-line phone system.Under general supervision the Patient Access Representative III is responsible for securing and providing appropriate medical business information to/from patient families and funding sources. Interprets, identifies, communicates and documents this information by way of: registration scheduling and/or acquiring authorizations for patient services in a team environment. In addition the incumbent is responsible for being a subject matter expert in their area for internal and external customer inquiries as well as supporting various communication needs as required.SKILLS REQUIRED:Listens well and devotes full attention to patients and medical professionals alikeDetailed and caring, as the job involves dealing with people who are critically ill or injuredThe ability to remain calm, even under the most stressful of situationsCommunicates well, both orally and in writingThe ability to maintain confidentialityPossesses a basic understanding of medical terminology and proceduresResourcefulnessMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma, GED, or Foreign equivalentAssociate's Degree plus 1 year of experience or High School Diploma plus 2 years of experienceBilingual in English and SpanishPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Specialty Program2 years of experienceExperience with EPIC or other EMR systemsThe expected hiring range for this position is $23.10 to $31.77Rady Children’s Hospital is committed to compensation that is externally competitive and internally equitable.
