Chemical Engineer (Polymer/Plastics)

Required Qualifications

• MINIMUM EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree + 3 years’ experience or High school diploma + 7 years’ experience.
• INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE: Direct work experience with support of processing, equipment, and/or property testing of polymers and substrates used in the flexible packaging industry and demonstrated performance in these areas.
• COMPUTER SKILLS: Strong basic computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, data collection, and basic data analysis.
• COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Excellent oral and written English skills and ability to communicate well across all levels within the organization.

TRAVEL: Ability to travel, domestic and international, according to business needs

Preferred Qualifications

• Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a plastic technology, engineering, or scientific discipline. and a working knowledge of and experience with polymers and processing in the flexible packaging industry.
• Direct work experience with equipment and/or processing polymers using blown film, cast film, and/or extrusion coating processes.
• Experience with Technical Service, Product Development, and/or R&D activities.
• Experience and knowledge in polymer and flexible packaging property testing, ASTM Standards, etc.
• Familiarity or experience with polymer characterization methods/tools (e.g., thermal analysis, rheology, FTIR, NMR, TEM, SEM, etc.).
• Good working knowledge and familiarity with polyethylene resins and products.
• Participation in industry organizations such as ASTM, Society of Plastics Engineers, Flexible Packaging Association, Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry, etc.
