Position Description
This position is responsible for the safe and efficient loading and unloading of railcars and tanker trucks containing crude oil. Individuals in this role prepare the crude oil in stock tanks to ensure minimum sediment and water and works to transfer supply from tanks to railcars via loading pumps for shipment to Bradford refinery. This further requires thorough inspection of railcar equipment prior to and post-loading to ensure incident-free transport in accordance with company and federal railroad regulations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: seeing, speaking, hearing, smelling, kneeling, stooping, sitting, walk/climb/crawl, stand/reach, listen, writing, physical coordination to execute precision work, driving, climbing, twisting/bending, depth perception, assembling parts, keyboarding, push/pull/lift/carry or otherwise transport 50 pounds.
Work in various indoor and outdoor environments in extreme heat or cold with exposure to hazardous materials.
Possess sufficient physical strength and endurance to lift heavy objects and perform work from elevated platforms.
Able to wear Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE)
May be required to work overtime, holidays, weekends scheduled time off &/or shift work as required to support plant operations.

Scope & Responsibilities
- Verifies railcar is positioned and properly secured at the loading rack and ensures compatibility with last product contained.
- Visually inspect railcar before product transfer to ensure that it is mechanically sound and free of defects.
- Determine weights before and after transfer to ensure that outages do not exceed vessel certification(s).
- Connects hoses to railcar bottom valves, opens vent lids and valves and operates pumps to make crude oil transfers.
- Reads tank gauges and monitors tank levels while observing entire loading operation to avoid contamination or spillage.
- Drains water from stock tanks to water tanks and records opening and closing gauges.
- Monitors freshwater levels within the dike and coordinates sample collection for testing.
- Documents and communicates flow volume and duration for National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) compliance.
- Inspects railcars prior to release from siding in accordance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) guidelines and keeps records for same.
- Repairs or replaces lid bolts and notifies logistics of any defects or repairs as appropriate.
- Responsible for air wrenches, hoses, pumps, and fittings and maintains inventory in secured area.
- Assist with transportation of truck units to and from repair shops.
- Conducts general maintenance activities which includes, but is not limited to keeping unloading islands clean, painting tanks or buildings &/or patching holes in roadways.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management.
- High School Graduate/GED with up to two (2) years general work experience preferred but not required.
- Possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle driver's license; Class A CDL; tanker and hazmat endorsement desirable but not required.
- Able to read, write and take measurements to properly calculate volumes.
- Safe and proper use of tools, forklifts, JLG man lifts and any equipment necessary to perform job functions.
- Understand and follow the Lockout/Tagout regulations and Open Line/Entry permit requirements.
- Adhere to safety policies and follow good housekeeping practices keeping work areas clean and orderly.
- Capable of climbing and working in elevated locations in all weather conditions.
- Must understand and follow all FRA, DOT, HazMat, OSHA and company rules, regulations, and safety policies.
- Successful completion of all company mandated &/or job-related training programs deemed appropriate.
