Oracle Director of Product Management - Mainframe Modernization

Are you passionate enough to be the voice of the customer inside Oracle’s Mission-Critical Technologies development team and translate mainframe modernization market opportunities into tangible product requirements?

Are you excited enough to tackle the challenges of mainframe modernization and migration to cloud and support customers exploring migration approaches, handling assessments of their mainframe environments, creating proposals and target architectures, supporting POCs, and solving the problems inherent in migrating mission-critical legacy applications and data to distributed systems?

If you’ve answered “YES” to the above questions, this could be the right job description for you.

This Director of Product Management position is for someone who is passionate about helping mainframe customers realize the modernization benefits and cost savings of open, distributed systems, while protecting decades of their investment in application business logic and data models. Someone who is comfortable presenting to C-level executives and conducting a hands-on workshop for developers. As a Director of Product Management in a world-wide geographically dispersed team, you will be at the ground level of driving mainframe migration initiatives across financial services, government, and other industries and will play a key role in the evolution of Oracle’s solutions for mainframe rehosting and modernization, go-to-market planning and execution.

You must have a good understanding of both IBM mainframe systems and open systems, and be comfortable with OLTP and Batch technologies used in both worlds and their unique requirements and capabilities. As a mainframe subject matter expert, you should be able to map IBM z/OS components and system interactions to distributed systems architecture, while being very hands-on, able to explore many parts of the stack and explain the underlying technology principles, Oracle’s solutions differentiators, and roadmap to customer executives, IT and business leaders, architects, and developers. You should be able to deploy and demonstrate Oracle’s technology for mainframe emulation with compelling demos, integrating Transaction Managers, Database, and other Oracle technologies, and help customers develop and troubleshoot POCs. You should also be excited to delve into customer business challenges and drivers for mainframe modernization, determine the key factors influencing their decisions, and propose solutions either through RFP responses or unsolicited proposals. Learning from these efforts and customer opportunities, you should be identifying new areas for enhancing Oracle solutions and driving an engineering roadmap for continuous innovation. This position may involve moderate travel with a mix of inbound and outbound PM responsibilities. It will be very hands-on with the products comprising Oracle’s Tuxedo Application Runtimes and Application Rehosting tools, involving close collaboration with product engineering, QA, and documentation teams in an agile environment. You will interpret and filter customers’ needs translating them into feasible requirements for the product family, work with the product team to prioritize the requirements and define a solution, and deliver responses to the customers for the new features, enhancements, and other actions by the product team. You will also solicit beta customers for testing new releases and features and collect feedback for the product team. The PM will also engage with many teams involved in supporting GTM, develop content for marketing assets, deliver training workshops, and provide deal support to the field teams and partners around the world to enable, engage, discover, navigate, and support deals through pre-sales phases and to support post-sale delivery by Oracle and partner consulting teams.
