User Research Assistant

W2 Contract

Salary Range: $93,600 - $114,400 per year

Location: Seattle, WA - Hybrid Role

Job Summary:

We require a User Research Assistant on our team to handle logistics for our research studies, including recruiting, scheduling, rewarding participants, maintaining lab equipment, installing and preparing study devices and software, annotating and recording participant sessions, editing videos, and assisting with data analysis and study summaries.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and schedule participants for user studies.
  • Ensure appropriate participant compliance with study protocols.
  • Engage and communicate with participants before, during, and after studies.
  • Set up and break down study session areas.
  • Help ensure study materials, devices, and software will be ready for each study and participant.
  • Assist with study facilitation, such as recording, note-taking, and data collection.
  • Assist with data review and clean-up.
  • Assist with preparing and communicating results to stakeholder teams and archiving results.
  • Help troubleshoot and maintain study lab equipment.
  • Track and report on the status of a portfolio of projects in progress.


Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, with major or concentration in human factors, cognitive or experimental psychology, human-computer interaction, social sciences, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of qualitative user research experience, including moderating studies, interviewing, and interacting with participants, ideally in-person and remote
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience managing multiple projects of different complexities simultaneously.
  • Experience with hardware and software device setup and troubleshooting
  • Experience with Excel, Numbers, PowerPoint, Keynote, and Final Cut Pro
  • Previous experience with participant data management is preferred.
  • Previous study annotation and data handling experience is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented and takes ownership of work
  • Strong communication skills with participants, team members, stakeholders, and leadership
  • Able to problem solve and create processes and tools to increase efficiency
