SOFT's client, located in Syracuse, NY is looking for an Electrical Design Engineer with power system design experience for a long term contract assignment. The selected candidate will be responsible for the design of Electrical power system. Design experience / knowledge is required.
Primary Responsibilities:
The main purpose of this position is to provide electrical engineering services on substation, and associated auxiliary systems for AIS and GIS substations.
Key skills required:
1. Electrical Engineering Degree
2. Experience with Power flow modules
3. 5 + yrs of related experience
Hybrid role - 2 days in the office. 1 mandatory in person meeting per month.
1 round of teams interviews.
Power-flow analysis, familiarity with production cost modelling, thermo capabilities.
Proficient in MS Suite
8 folks on the team - each with designated area of focus.
PSSE, Aspen, etc.
Major competency requirements and responsibilities:
- Conduit / duct bank routing and design.
- Conduit / trench / cable tray layout, including fill calculations in accordance with NEC.
- Substation ground grid design
- Low voltage power distribution system design, including AC / DC panel schedules, load balancing, cable ampacity verification and equipment specification.
- Outdoor flood-light (illumination) design per NESC.
- Work with the project lead engineer to develop the Design Criteria and the Document Deliverables list for the project.
- Work with the project lead engineer to develop single line diagrams, layout & section drawings and BOMs for the substation design packages.
