In this position, you will be responsible for assisting the Client Accounting department to coordinate all aspects of the Firm's electronic billing processes, including: set up, transmission, and problem resolution. This position will also work closely with the supervisor and team members to meet department service guidelines. This position will be based in our New York office and has an in-office working schedule. Please note that the Firm will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.Prepares electronic bills in LEDES (Legal Electronic Data exchange Standard) format using Aderant Expert.Submits timekeepers and rates for approval as needed.Interacts with billing personnel to ensure e-bills are prepared in accordance with Outside Counsel Guidelines.Transmits electronic bills to clients via third-party web sites or via other means as requested by clients.Monitors status of invoices submitted, identifies issues, and works with billing and collection personnel to resolve discrepancies and rejections.Verifies transmission of e-bills and maintains related documentation.Resolves issues arising from transmitted bills (rejections, deductions, appeals), coordinating with the Client Accounting Assistants and Coordinators, partners and clients as necessary.Coordinates and submits accruals and budgets to clients.Responds to e-mail and telephone inquiries from clients, electronic billing vendors, partners, and other Client Accounting staff regarding various aspects of electronic billing using effective communication skills, both oral and written.Communicates situations as they evolve that may require supervisor follow-up, such as e-bill submission issues, difficulty filling requests, or workload situations that may jeopardize meeting department service guidelines and/or client guidelines.Actively seeks to enhance knowledge of all client specific procedures and processes.Works effectively in a team environment.Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.Manages Firm resources responsibly.Complies with and understands Firm operation, policies and procedures.Performs other related duties as assigned.QualificationsKnowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systemsFamiliarity with ADERANT Expert or similar legal-industry time and billing suitesFamiliarity with various electronic billing vendor web sitesFamiliarity with legal industry-standard LEDES 1998B, LEDES 1998BI, and LEDES XML E-billing versions 2/2.1 electronic billing formats, including ability to manually edit as neededTechnical knowledge or desire and ability to learn new technical skillsExcellent analytical and troubleshooting abilitiesDemonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writingDemonstrates close attention to detailAbility to handle multiple projects and shifting prioritiesAbility to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentialityAbility to organize and prioritize workAbility to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environmentAbility to work well independently as well as effectively within a teamFlexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needsEducation/ExperienceBachelor's degreeMinimum of two years related experience in a professional services environmentCulture & Life at SkaddenWhat makes Skadden special is our people and the culture, community, and spirit of collaboration we have created.
