Do you have a passion for using science and engineering to combat climate change? SBW Consulting, a leader in clean energy since 1990, seeks a motivated senior engineer to join our growing team. This role will have you leading an exciting assortment of energy efficiency and electrification projects across North America. Applicants residing in Washington or Oregon are preferred, but we will consider remote work arrangements from anywhere in the U.S.

What you’ll do:

  1. Lead teams assessing energy efficiency and GHG reduction in commercial and industrial facilities.
  2. Manage projects, ensuring efficient execution and high-quality results.
  3. Engage effectively with clients, SBW senior management, and project teams.
  4. Oversee complex technical analyses.
  5. Write technical plans and reports suitable for a wide audience.

You’re a great fit if you have:

  1. At least five years of professional work experience in an energy or building science field.
  2. A B.S. degree or higher in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
  3. Track record of successfully managing complex projects.
  4. Demonstrated competence auditing and analyzing energy use in commercial or industrial systems. This includes planning, overseeing, and conducting field work, data collection, and custom engineering calculations (e.g., ASHRAE standards).
  5. Curiosity to explore the “why”, critical thinking skills, and a love of solving difficult problems.
  6. Excellent writing, computer, oral communication, and team skills.
  7. Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

A plus if you have:

  1. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or other relevant certifications.
  2. Interest in or experience with business development.
  3. Hands-on experience with controls and O&M activities.
  4. Experience with demand response, electrification, distributed energy systems, energy storage, or carbon accounting.
  5. Familiarity with statistical analysis, such as regression and/or sample design and population estimation.
  6. Data processing, analysis, and associated coding skills, preferably with R or Python.

Compensation and Benefits:

$105-$160K annually, depending on experience. SBW provides its employees a professional, collaborative, and family-friendly work environment, including flexible schedule and remote work options.
