General Description of the Position
The Accounting Analyst III performs a wide-range of financial and accounting related responsibilities within the Division of Finance and Administration. The incumbent reports to the University Assistant Controller. The Accounting Analyst III assists in safeguarding the University's accounting information and ensures the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial recording, reporting, and reconciliations. Responsibilities assigned to this position include but are not limited to: bank reconciliations, reconciling general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, chargeback; preparing reports; serving as the backup for the cashier; and performing a wide-range of accounting related responsibilities within the Division of Finance for the provision of excellent service to all University stakeholders and ensuring practices align with the overall goals of the University. The Division of Finance is a fast-paced unit where timely and accurate processing and meeting established deadlines and performance/productivity goals is paramount. Candidates must have a proven ability to multi-task, prioritize and complete work tasks timely and accurately while providing excellent service, especially in a high-volume work environment with a diverse customer base. The ideal candidate for this position is a self-directed, dependable team-player with excellent accounting and analytical skills, excellent customer service abilities, excellent communication skills (oral and written), great organization skills, critical thinking skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and effective time and task management abilities who is capable of developing positive relationships with the University's stakeholders, exercising strict confidentiality, and supporting the needs of a transformational organization.

Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Essential Functions
The following are the functions essential to performing this job:
- Performs general ledger accounting-based functions, including account analyses and review, reconciliations, invoicing, ad hoc reporting, and recording financial transactions to the University's general and subsidiary ledgers for the University Student related bank accounts
- Performs reconciliation procedures for transactions on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis to ensure accurate and timely posting to the various accounts and ledgers
- Process financial transactions in the State of Delaware financial systems (First State Financials)
- Reviews, revises, and institutes internal controls to ensure correct charging and accounting of all transactions; establishes internal control within University/State accounting standards and develops record keeping and reporting requirements
- Respond to inquiries and resolve escalated problems/questions regarding the general ledger accounts in a timely manner
- Serve as a technical resource for Finance staff members and provide assistance with Cashier's Office during peak periods and absences
- Provide advice, assistance, and training to less-experienced staff and student employees
- Perform other accounting, administrative support, and customer service duties as assigned

Qualification Standards
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field or Associate Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field and five years of equivalent acceptable combination of education and experience
- Three or more years of accounting or account-related responsibilities, which includes recording, reconciling, and reporting financial information
- Two years of experience using MS Office, Banner, or similar systems
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), time management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service skills for a diverse population of stakeholders, to include assessing the needs of the customer; meeting established quality standards for service, and exercising creative techniques, critical thinking skills, and sound judgment to resolve problems
- Demonstrated ability to exercise confidentiality, professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment.
- Proven track record of meeting performance/productivity goals on a consistent basis, with accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail demonstrated in all phases of work.
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours as necessary.
