The research laboratory of Dr. Tharick Pascoal in the University of Pittsburgh Department of Psychiatry/UPMC Western Psychiatric Institute & Clinic, located in Oakland, Pittsburgh, PA is currently hiring a full-time Administrative Specialist to support our ongoing studies and activities. Our laboratory is focused on monitoring the progression of Alzheimer’s disease, and we run longitudinal, observational studies funded by the National Institutes of Health/National Institute on Aging.The purpose of the Administrative Specialist would be to provide research administrative support to the Research Operations Coordinator, by assisting with the management of grants and awards, including with new grant proposals and progress reports, scientific conference travel and expense reporting, and administrative tasks for ongoing studies.This position is grant funded.Responsibilities:Work closely with the Department of Psychiatry Office of Grants and Contracts to ensure that all research activities are in compliance with appropriate university and funding agency guidelines, under the guidance of the Research Operations Coordinator.Manage invoices and process payments to/from research grant accounts for ongoing projects.Track research grant expenses and report on adherence to budgets.Assist with preparing documentation for annual grant progress reports and deliverables.Monitor and develop Services Agreements with the Office of Grants and Contracts.Assist with booking travel, reimbursements, and expense reporting for the Principal Investigator and members of the study team to domestic and international scientific conferences.Provide administrative support in working on grant proposals.Assist with purchasing materials for ongoing studies and compensating research participants.High School Diploma or equivalent with 3 years prior administrative experience requiredORBachelors Degree required.Experience in preparing submissions and manuscripts preferred.Prior work experience in a research environment preferred.Experience working on research related projects.Capable of monitoring several projects and deadlines simultaneously while working on each effectively and accurately.Strong communication skills to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:Act 34 with renewalOAPSA with renewalUPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
