Blackstone Talent Group, an award-winning technology consulting and talent agency, is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Client's team. Senior Software Engineer for our Herndon or Chantilly VA locations. In this role, you will be designing, developing, coding, and testing complex new software products, as well as making significant enhancements to existing software. The ideal candidate is a hands-on platform builder with significant experience in developing scalable data platforms, with experience in business intelligence, analytics, data science, and data products. To hit the ground running, you will possess a strong, firsthand technical expertise in a variety of configuration management and big data technologies with the proven ability to fashion robust scalable solutions that can manage large data sets. Key Responsibilities
- Research, design, develop and/or modify enterprise-wide systems and/or application software.
- Develop complex data flows or make significant enhancements to existing pipelines.
- Research emerging technologies to determine impact on application execution.
- Test software development methodology in an agile environment.
- Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements in existing systems and platforms.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, analysts, project managers, and other engineers.
Required Knowledge/Skills
- Minimum of six years’ experience in software engineering
- Experience with programming languages C++/Rust (learning Rust will be required if you do not have prior experience)
- Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
- Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Hands-on experience and is familiar with one or more of the following software/tools:
- Building automation technologies like Maven, Jenkins, etc.
- Constructing APIs and services using REST, SOAP, etc.
- Hands-on experience with Elastic Search and relational databases.
Desired Skills
- Hands-on experience with distributed computing systems: Hadoop, Elastic, Spark, EMR, Databricks, or other
- Knowledge of AWS Cloud technologies: EC2, S3, SQS, SNS, VPC, ELB
- Understanding of servers operating systems: Linux, Windows
- Ability to grasp database methodologies.
- Aptitude to focus on continual process improvement with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
