The Role
Gala is excited to announce we are looking for a dynamic and experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team and help us build a world-class workforce. The HR Manager will oversee all aspects of human resources practices and processes. You will support business needs and ensure the proper implementation of company strategy and objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR compliance and employment law with experience in fast-paced, innovative environments. This role requires a hands-on approach and the ability to work closely with our leadership team to drive company culture and employee engagement. Our key decision-makers and senior leadership are onsite in this office, and this position will be onsite full-time.

The ideal candidate has prior game dev experience, excellent people skills, business acumen, and an exemplary work ethic. We want someone with experience and passion for web3, cryptocurrency, and NFTs. We would love someone with a deep passion for innovation, strong product management skills, and an impressive track record for working in a fast-paced, evolving, creative-minded environment.
Responsibilities
- Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, or other issues.
- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on California employment law and other US state regulations, ensuring compliance and providing guidance on complex HR issues across multiple jurisdictions.
- Partner with legal for offer letters, contractor agreements, terminations, etc.
- Create employment agreements for all U.S. hires and work with our EOR for new hires.
- Create contractor agreements as needed.
- Management of 401k Administration
- Management and oversight of HRIS, onboardings, and staff EVP
- Assist with payroll, benefits, and staff engagement processes.
- Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics, and procedures across the organization.
- Nurture a positive working environment and company culture.
- Create and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance.
- Assess training needs to apply and monitor training programs.
- Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management.
- Manage international staff EOR administration.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Proven prior experience as an HR Manager or Senior HR Generalist with at least 5+ years in a dynamic, fast-moving, agile environment.
- People-oriented and results-driven.
- Demonstrable experience with Human Resources metrics.
- Knowledge of HR systems and databases.
- Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills.
- Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
- In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices.
- Prior experience working with international staff and with an EOR or multiple entities.
- BS/MS degree in Human Resources or related field.
- Agile methodology experience in HR practices.
- Self-motivated, stellar work ethic, fun collaborator.
- Excited by problem-solving.
- Fearless.
Nice-to-Have Skills and Qualifications
- Passionate and driven to work in an agile, innovative environment.
- SHRM or PHR certifications are highly desired.
- Experience in the blockchain, cryptocurrency, or technology industry.
- Familiarity with Web 3.0 technologies and decentralized applications.
