Elevance Health Director & Actuary I - Denver, Colorado

Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). Must reside within 50 miles/1-hour commute from an Elevance Health location.

Responsibilities:

  1. Guide staff in the preparation and interpretation of data and related formulae.
  2. Assist Actuarial department head in developing the company's actuarial policies and procedures.
  3. Direct and provide leadership in actuarial functions, which may include the design, pricing, and implementation of assigned products; estimation of reserves and financial reporting; interpretation and projection; analysis of trends and cost of care initiatives; and actuarial modeling and analytics.
  4. Maintain product line compliance with various state and federal regulations.
  5. Conduct and analyze experience studies, validate pricing assumptions, and monitor consistency of company practices and procedures.
  6. Perform short and long-term financial forecasting and analysis.
  7. Make decisions determining priority of work assignments, appropriateness of actuarial and statistical analysis, and determining actuarial soundness of products, reserve position, underwriting guidelines, etc.
  8. Hire, train, coach, counsel, and evaluate performance of direct reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a BA/BS in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or related field and a minimum of 7 years of related experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background. Requires ASA/MAAA.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:

  • Prior Valuation and/or Management experience is a plus.

Salary: For candidates working in person or remotely in the below location(s), the salary range for this specific position is $148,896 to $243,648.
