Elevance Health Director & Actuary I - Denver, Colorado
Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). Must reside within 50 miles/1-hour commute from an Elevance Health location.
Responsibilities:
- Guide staff in the preparation and interpretation of data and related formulae.
- Assist Actuarial department head in developing the company's actuarial policies and procedures.
- Direct and provide leadership in actuarial functions, which may include the design, pricing, and implementation of assigned products; estimation of reserves and financial reporting; interpretation and projection; analysis of trends and cost of care initiatives; and actuarial modeling and analytics.
- Maintain product line compliance with various state and federal regulations.
- Conduct and analyze experience studies, validate pricing assumptions, and monitor consistency of company practices and procedures.
- Perform short and long-term financial forecasting and analysis.
- Make decisions determining priority of work assignments, appropriateness of actuarial and statistical analysis, and determining actuarial soundness of products, reserve position, underwriting guidelines, etc.
- Hire, train, coach, counsel, and evaluate performance of direct reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a BA/BS in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or related field and a minimum of 7 years of related experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background. Requires ASA/MAAA.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:
- Prior Valuation and/or Management experience is a plus.
Salary: For candidates working in person or remotely in the below location(s), the salary range for this specific position is $148,896 to $243,648.
