JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The Senior Payroll Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for the organization. This position requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Essential Functions

- Prepare and process payroll accurately and on a timely basis.
- Reconcile payroll and benefit accounts.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Assist in preparing annual budgets.
- Record payroll data in general ledger.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Communicate payroll information to employees.
- Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, and other deductions.
- Credit card reconciliations and entry into ERP Epicor.
- Bank Account reconciliations.
- Maintains fixed asset register and depreciation schedules. Prepares journal entries to record monthly depreciation expense.
- Proper tracking and accounting of equipment sold, including removal from fixed asset register, depreciation schedule and insurance policy.
- Ensure that assets are properly titled, licensed, and insured.
- Protects the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and payroll taxation.
- Ability to use accounting software to record, store, and analyze financial data.
- Ability to efficiently operate a 10-key calculator or equivalent and other related office equipment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday. Hours of work are:
- Day shift begins no later than 8:00 a.m. and runs until 5:00 p.m., 40 hours per week.
No travel is regularly expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Four years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with at least two years of experience in payroll preferred.
