Provide technical oversight for bi-weekly payroll, bonus payments, Federal, State and Local payroll taxation recognition and payment, voluntary and involuntary deductions. Direct tax research and planning related to payroll and taxable compensation determination matters. Develop, recommends, and implements payroll taxation planning strategies and expense efficiency ideas. Provide oversight with the outside vendor for the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, and tax payments. Lead staff in audit defense, compensation and tax reporting, and improving processes.

Primary Accountabilities
- You will create a collaborative, performance-driven work environment by facilitating and fostering trust, transparency, and inclusion. Works with team members to set clear goals, provide feedback, perform performance assessments, and support on-going development.
- You will lead with influence and expertise. Actively contributes to division or department leadership team. Communicates and supports organization mission, vision, values, policies, and practices.
- You will research payroll tax laws and regulations and the impact to the company; work with internal departments to determine impacts of proposed legislative and regulation.
- You will provide oversight and direction for the creation of the bi-weekly, off-cycle, and bonus payrolls; directs the compiling and computing of payroll data metrics.
- You will consult with compensation and benefits departments to ensure the accuracy of data input, paychecks, taxation and deduction amounts for active and terminating employees.
- You will provide oversight for the preparation and reviews the outsourced payroll tax returns; reviews significant portions of the tax returns for accuracy; establish systematic data validations and reviews of payroll and employee system data.
- You will manage the vendor relationships as they pertain to payroll.
- You will work with the Accounting areas to insure proper financial statement accounting for items which impact salary and benefits expense payments and taxation; implements, maintains, and tests proper internal controls.
- You will develop strategies and supporting arguments that minimize adverse payroll-related audit adjustments and further audit risk; responsible for defense against audits by IRS, state, or local authorities for areas such as: employee federal and state taxable income and tax withholding, taxable fringe benefits recognition, and unemployment insurance payments.
- You will maximize efficiencies for payroll processes by establishing tools and ensuring accurate data inputs and information systems.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
- 5+ years in payroll management.
- 5+ years experience processing payroll in Workday.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of federal, state, local compensation and payroll and unemployment taxation laws and regulations for all applicable jurisdictions.
- Demonstrated understanding of Title III of the Consumer Credit Protection Act pertaining to garnishment of wages.
- Demonstrated mathematical skills.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is preferred.
