We are currently seeking an Offshore Principal Estimator, reporting directly to the Manager of Estimating to join the team based in Houston, TX.
About The Role:
Work independently to write estimate plans, provide estimate status reports, prepare cost estimates, pricing analyses, and revenue calculations for estimates of all sizes and complexities in the Offshore energy industry. Lead a team of 2-5 estimators to produce a large to mega size Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) estimate. Typical project types include Engineering Studies, Process Design Packages (PDP), Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), Basic Design Packages (BDP), Detailed Engineering & Procurement (EP), and Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) efforts. Responsible for the schedule and work hours spent to complete estimates. Mentor other estimators directly and indirectly. Supervise other estimators when preparing small and medium size estimates and when preparing change order estimates. Lead department improvement initiatives such as historical data, tools, template development, procedures, guidelines, and work methods. Lead reviews of large and mega projects with department managers and company executive management. Lead client estimate reviews for estimates of all sizes and complexities. Lead Joint Venture partner estimate reviews for estimates of all sizes and complexities.

Must Have Skills:
- Self-motivated and detail oriented professional
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under time pressure
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and presentation skills
- Advanced skills with MS Excel software
- Advanced skills with MS PowerPoint software
- Significant experience benchmarking and indexing ACCE database
- Working knowledge of the work process for key departments providing estimate input (construction, subcontracts, procurement, engineering, finance, insurance, tax, logistics, human resources, etc.)
- Significant experience leading a team of estimating professionals
- Significant experience preparing AACE Class 4 and 5 (Factored and Order of Magnitude) estimates
- Significant experience leading preparation of AACE Class 1, 2, and 3 Detailed estimates
- Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in lieu of degree
- Significant experience as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more estimating disciplines (structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation)
- Minimum of 15 years of estimating experience in the energy industry including experience with Offshore Facilities such as: FLNGs, Fixed Platforms Semisubmersibles, Tension Leg Platforms, Spars, and other fixed and floating facilities including floating structures for supporting wind turbines. Extensive experience should include experience with Offshore facilities both topsides and substructures, Weight Control Report, T&I and Hookup.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management
- Significant experience with multi-office execution and module fabrication yard execution
- Experience working with a Joint Venture partner on a large project
- Demonstrated leadership and / or management experience
- Working knowledge of MS Access software
- Working knowledge of MS Power BI software
- Experience calculating cash flow analysis for estimates including exposure costs
- Familiar with quantitative risk analysis techniques and software
- Experience with construction and commissioning phases of a project
- AACE International certification or working knowledge of AACE recommended practices in the areas of Estimating or Project Controls
- Significant experience with other third-party estimating software (especially RIB, MC2, or EcoSys)
- Experience working on projects related to the energy transition business
