Sales and Use Tax SupervisorABOUT YOU:Join our dynamic finance team as a key player in driving tax compliance and reporting! In this role, you'll provide vital support to the Tax Supervisor or Sr. Finance Director, ensuring accurate sales and use tax accounting for the U.S. and Canada. From managing U.S. sales and use taxes to overseeing Canadian Goods and Services taxes and gross receipts taxes, you'll be at the forefront of maintaining compliance and delivering impactful financial insights. Ability to communicate with external customers and government authorities.Experience. 2-year degree in accounting or 2-4 years’ related experience.Education. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Tax, Accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred. Experience with Vertex Tax software.YOU WILL:Ensure Sales Tax Return Compliance.Gather and prepare monthly US sales and use tax, Puerto Rico VAT, and Canada GST/HST/PST/QST information required for the preparation of returns by an external third party.Prepare approximately 150 account reconciliations monthly.Review and approve funding the external third party for payment of taxes (can be up to $7M per month).Reconcile data preparation to third party monthly workbook (up to 14 different entries to reconcile and report to taxing authorities).Oversee Exemption Certificate and Vertex Tax Software Maintenance Maintain Vertex sales tax database of over 80,000 exemption certificates (affects the tax status of customer invoices).Review and update exemption certificates by state.Manage monthly sales tax rate update (affects all customer invoices).Maintain Product Taxability Matrix for legal compliance with state jurisdictions.Review semi-monthly Vertex reports for accurate taxability (rep and internal exemptions).Provide Audit Support. Assist Supervisor on Audit related projects including gathering Oracle and Vertex Data to be provided to the Auditor.Manage Customer Facing IssuesMonitor sales tax email boxes daily (direct external and internal customer contact).Research and resolve internal and external customer tax questions.Assist in resolution of independent rep sales tax questions.Review and prepare updated vendor resale certificates (require research into Jostens purchases and product usage) and W9 requests.Assist Business LicensePrepare annual Gross Receipts information for business license filings.Prepare annual budget for business license.Manage third party vendor on all business license filings, funding requests, and information requests.Provide Other Tax Department Support.Assist with annual and new product implementation system testing.Review all tax department mail and route/respond accordingly.Typical/expected % of overnight travel: none to minimalLOVE WHERE YOU WORK:We care about your health.
