About the Role
The Design Engineer works independently to assist engineers, scientists, and/or teams in the development and manufacture of materials, processes, equipment or finished products.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in CAD, particularly SolidWorks
  • Technical Degree and commiserate experience required
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong hands-on skills
  • Experience / knowledge in manual mill and lathe machining
  • Ability to set-up / conduct product testing and collect data
  • Support projects interacting with other technicians and engineers
  • Identify vendors to identify and acquire necessary supplies, materials, equipment and tools for specific projects
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to learn or have knowledge in Molding, Extrusion and Electronics/Soldering
  • Contribute ideas into R&D for product design or issue resolutions
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects independently
  • Design control/Change Request process experience
Responsibilities
  • Develop and construct prototypes/products from concepts. Contribute original concepts to the development of advanced prototypes and fixtures
  • Strong hands-on problem solver
  • Explore and propose creative solutions based on solid rationales and contribute to design and process concepts
  • Organize, coordinate, and execute building and testing of products per engineering instructions
  • Create engineering drawings using CAD Software and create complete R&D engineering documentation following established procedures
  • Maintain equipment, train staff on its operations, and schedule necessary calibration or preventative maintenance
  • Actively participate in project team meetings
  • Assist project teams in establishing specifications and quality standards
  • Use internal resources and qualified external vendors to assist engineering teams to identify and obtain supplies and services
