Position Overview: We are seeking an industry experienced Chemical Engineer to support Quantum Dot (QD) scale-up, manufacturing, purification, and development. The ideal candidate has work experience in chemical manufacturing, reactor design, scale-up experience of chemical reactions, and has a strong understanding of organic and inorganic chemistry. Experience with manufacturing nanomaterials is highly regarded. Job requires working on-site in Los Alamos, NM.


Key Responsibilities:

·        QD Production : Working with a team to operating, improve, and maintain quantum dot reactor systems to produce quantum dots for various products. Includes logging and maintaining documentation for QD production runs and inventory.

·        QD Purification: Working with a team to operate, improve, and maintain quantum dot purification and processing systems. After quantum dots are manufactured, they are purified and processed into final form for specific end products.

·        Scale-up Design: Establishing design for future production and purification equipment. Working with 3 rd party engineers and manufacturers to design and build larger equipment.

·        Process Research and Development : Optimization of production and purification processes to achieve/improve optical and physical specifications while reducing cost/time.


Job Requirements

·       BS or MS degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field

·       Experience with safe material handling in a chemistry lab setting

·       Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

·       Ability to organize/analyze data and draw conclusions from technical data

·       Strong record keeping abilities, excellent verbal communication skills

·       Residence in or re-location close to Los Alamos, NM

·       Permanent authorization to work in the USA and over the age of 18


Desired Qualifications

·       3+ years industry experience in chemical engineering, chemical manufacturing

·       Chemical equipment design, operation, maintenance experience

·       Semiconductor nanocrystal science, or quantum dots synthesis

·       Chemical process development, hazard safety analysis

·       Scale-up and manufacturing experience

·       Working in a high growth environment (e.g., venture capital backed small business)
