Summary of Position

The Director, Risk Management reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor, Business Services and provides oversight and hands-on involvement in areas of worker’s compensation, insurance administration, investigations, training, health and safety programs, and emergency preparedness. The Director also serves as the Title IX Coordinator.

Minimum Required Education

  1. Bachelor’s degree from a nationally, regionally, or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education required, preferably in the study of risk management or related field.
  2. Master degree preferred.
  3. Prefer Risk Manager Certification.

Minimum Required Experience

  1. 5 years’ experience in risk management, or related field.
  2. 3 years’ training experience and experience speaking to large groups.
  3. Experience with or knowledge of environmental health and safety, worker’s compensation, insurance, Department of Education Title IX, threat assessment and prevention preferred.
  4. Experience with higher education preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Knowledgeable about organizational safety policies and programs.
  2. Knowledgeable about worker’s compensation, insurance coverage, environmental health and safety issues and protocols, and risk issues related to an educational environment.
  3. Communicating complex concepts through effective oral and written communication.
  4. Planning and organization.
  5. Investigation skills for on the job accidents, injuries, and illnesses.
  6. Training, development, and presentation in the areas of environmental health and wellness.
  7. Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety and risk management requirements and initiatives and ability to implement these requirements as directed by the Associate Vice Chancellor, Business Services.
  8. Knowledge of OSHA and/or Texas workplace safety and risk management requirements.
  9. Creating and monitoring data and reports.
  10. Applying critical analysis and strategic and innovative thinking to the discipline of Risk Management.
  11. Development and implementation of Risk Management long-term plans as well as responding to short-term needs in coordination with the Associate Vice Chancellor, Business Services.
  12. Maintain client information in a strictly confidential manner.
  13. Development and maintenance of effective working relationships with external partners, staff, faculty and students while maintaining safety and risk management protocols in an open college environment.
  14. Setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and multi-tasking with minimal supervision.
  15. Use of computer technology for work development, communication, networking, data gathering and reporting, to include Microsoft Office, Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook.
  16. Represents CTCD with local Emergency Management Directors/Manager meetings.

Full-time, indicate working hours - M-Th 7:30-5:30, F 7:30-11:30
