Job Description:

The Senior Knowledge Management Manager (Healthcare) (“Senior KM Manager”) supports the development of the knowledge strategy and overall knowledge infrastructure for the Health Practice Group (“Practice Group”). The Senior KM Manager serves as a necessary function for the lawyers in the Practice Group to work more effectively. The Senior KM Manager collaborates closely with the Director of Knowledge Management (Healthcare), KM stakeholders from various teams and Practice Group lawyers to coordinate the implementation of firm-wide knowledge management efforts, create best practices, curate regulatory content, and promote a culture of knowledge-sharing and practice innovation.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Organization and Dissemination of Knowledge

  • Conduct legal research to supplement and augment knowledge content received from lawyers.
  • Organize and integrate existing knowledge content and facilitate the sharing of knowledge and information within and outside of the Practice Group with lawyers.
  • Convert licensed products into digital resources.
  • Respond to Practice Group requests for KM resources.
  • Support the Practice Group’s efforts to create and maintain a searchable knowledge repository (e.g., practice collaboration site on firm intranet) of exemplar forms, clauses, local counsel directory, precedents, memos, research, 50-state surveys, business development materials, and other helpful content for the Practice Groups.
  • Monitor key industry updates, legal decisions and client alerts to provide important updates to the lawyers within the Practice Group via email updates and other processes.
  • Develop procedures for generating, maintaining, updating, accessing and disseminating information (including the Practice Group’s forms and precedents) and other materials.
  • Collaborate with other Senior KM Managers to help identify trends, metrics and other tools to support KM adoption across the firm.

Management of Knowledge Management Resources:

  • Consistently and effectively communicate the availability and location of the Practice Group’s knowledge management resources.
  • Conduct annual reviews of KM resources and push regular updates as needed to reflect pertinent regulatory changes.
  • Collaborate with researchers to obtain regulatory guidance documents.

Lawyer Training/CLEs and Technology Evaluation:

  • Work with the KM department to evaluate, test and deploy innovative technology to reduce manual data collection, automate document creation, assist with legal research, and to otherwise support the practices.
  • Train Practice Group lawyers on the KM technology most relevant for the Practice Group in light of their unique needs.
  • Other duties as required by the Practice Groups.

Job Specifications:

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school.
  • At least three (3) years of experience as a healthcare regulatory lawyer.
  • Admitted to practice law in good standing in a location where McDermott has an office.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Target Hiring Range: $201,000 - $284,000.

Please note that quoted salary ranges are not guarantees of what final salary offers may be. Base pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. Base pay is only one part of the Total Rewards that MWE provides to compensate and recognize our staff professionals for their work. Full time positions are eligible for a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
