The Team:

The Global Intelligence and Analytics (GIA) consulting team supports our customers with a horizontal view of the geographies, sectors, and environments that shape the world in which they, their suppliers, and their customers operate. Our consultants design unique solutions using unparalleled data and insight spanning economics and industry, supply chain and logistics, geopolitics, and risk intelligence. We integrate these three practice areas through custom models, scenarios, indices, and analysis systems to inform critical decisions across a diverse range of workflows and sectors.

The Impact:

This role presents an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of shaping our customers' strategies and planning. The successful candidate will lead client engagements, developing technical and strategic solutions together with fellow consultants, best-in-class researchers, subject matter experts, and data and analytics teams. The project work will focus on analyzing policy issues- specifically trade and FTA policies, trade economics, direct investment flows, economic impact, and scenario analysis.

The Middle East is our fastest growing region with the most diverse client set, spanning government ministries, industrial/manufacturing, energy, technology, and mining firms, to name a few. Increasingly the Middle East is also characterized by countries in transition, moving from an extensive focus on petroleum and related products into more open and diversified economies, more reliant upon trade in merchandise and services. Our clients partner with us for insight and expertise to help shape their global trade relationships, trade and FTA policies and opportunities, macro/microeconomic reform initiatives; to support growth strategies, identify operating risks, and communicate the economic and social impact of these initiatives to their stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  1. Project management including an internal, and more importantly external, leadership role.
  2. Conceptualizing our technical approach and methods and communicating this in presentations, proposals and pitches to clients and prospective clients.
  3. Conducting in-depth economic analysis, socio-economic impact assessments, and macro/microeconomic scenario research in the context of alternative trade relationships and economic transformation.
  4. Conducting and supporting econometric modeling and forecasting.
  5. Present methodological process and project findings to clients, lead analysis and reporting of insights, and provide technical support tailored to client needs and expectations.
  6. Provide support to our commercial team in building a pipeline of business in the region focused on economic analysis including development, planning, scenarios and impact analysis.

What We're Looking For:

  1. PhD or master's degree minimum in Economics, with 10 years of work experience, preferably with prior consultancy and/or public policy experience.
  2. Deep expertise and preferably experience of trade negotiations, trade agreements and trade policy formulation, economic development and planning, exposure to macroeconomic modeling and research, economic impact, and scenario (what-if) analysis.
  3. Mathematical aptitude required with a strong ability to deal with scaled datasets and interpreting economic data.
  4. Intellectually curious, collaborative, and positive can-do attitude; strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex economic concepts and models in a clear and concise manner to clients and internal stakeholders.
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build effective internal and external relationships across multiple stakeholders to effectively manage projects and win new business.
  6. Proven project management skills.
  7. Technical capabilities and knowledge.
  8. Fluency in the English language, preferably also an Arabic speaker.
  9. Travel requirement - travel throughout Europe and the ME region will be an integral part of the role for both client contact, project management and supporting business development efforts.
  10. Arabic language skills desirable but not required.
