SUSTAINABLE AND RESILIENT SOLUTIONS PRACTICE
Sustainable and Resilient Solutions (SRS) is a business entity within Michael Baker International. The SRS focuses on MEP+ Building Engineering Services with a focus on Energy and Water Conservation, Carbon Neutrality, Resiliency, and Distributed Energy Projects. As a Mechanical Engineer in the SRS, this individual will be responsible for providing mechanical engineering expertise. In this role, the successful candidate will design the mechanical aspects of projects, work with the senior mechanical engineers on projects and work with our project managers.
Job Summary The successful candidate for this role will be an electrical engineer who can manage a team of Technical Managers, electrical engineers, EITs, and designer/drafters. This individual will be responsible for providing building electrical engineering expertise and leading the electrical technical staff. In this role, you will coordinate with the National Electrical Engineering Lead and other Department Managers, manage workload among staff, provide project leadership on complex projects, conduct quality control reviews, and act as Engineer of Record on projects performed by staff. This role requires the development of electrical engineering scopes of work and associated fees. Additionally, this role will involve some business development activities periodically throughout the year with both local and non-local clients. You will be responsible for the department's day-to-day management and operation, overseeing all projects undertaken by the department, including adherence to project scope, schedule, budget, and quality control/quality assurance, staff utilization, and the safety of the team. Furthermore, you will be responsible for developing and growing the team as well as developing and maintaining positive client relations. The successful candidate will take a lead role in supporting their staff in completing projects and growing the team to add new services and capacity for diverse project types, including aviation, transportation, federal, and others. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manages the team's day to day operations.
  • Coordinates business development activities with Project Managers.
  • Provide engineering and project support to the Designer of Record (DOR).
  • Act as DOR, as required.
  • Ability to check design calculations performed by others and conduct detailed quality control reviews.
  • Ability to follow MBI project standards and team protocols, as well as hold staff accountable to do the same.
  • Ability to review and comment on construction submittals, respond to Contractor Requests for Information (RFI) and review corrective action for field errors.
  • High proficiency in Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat PDF, and MS Teams.
  • Communicates with Senior Engineers, other disciplines and Project Managers, schedules and attends internal meetings, as necessary, and documents important action items for the next meeting.
  • Defines scope of work and man-hour estimates.
  • Assists with proposal production and implementing marketing initiatives.
  • Responsible for maintaining technical knowledge through completion of various training activities: attending seminars, reviewing professional publications, attending in-house systems/management training.
  • Responsible for maintaining professional licensure. Maintain an active NCEES record and obtain new licensure as required.
  • Occasionally visits project sites, reporting and documenting findings to Project Manager and/or Owner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities Provide guidance to team of electrical technical staff. Experience 10+ years of experience. Master's degree may substitute 1-2 years of experience. Education Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $115,000-$199,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
