Overview

As a Principal Product Designer, you will have the chance to shape the future of ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise, two powerful products that empower organizations across industries with cutting-edge mapping, analysis, and collaboration capabilities. Along with other talented designers and product development, you will push the boundaries in crafting and validating designs that extend the reach of GIS content for organizations around the globe. In this role, your designs will reach thousands of users leveraging ArcGIS to change the world.


Responsibilities

  1. Working closely with developers, product managers, and cross-functional teams to iteratively design end-to-end user experiences using participatory techniques.
  2. Coordinate with stakeholders to clearly identify requirements and specifications for both new and existing features.
  3. Develop personas, user journeys, information architecture diagrams, wireframes, visual designs, and prototypes to guide product development.
  4. Utilizing methods such as usability testing, surveys, and customer interviews to identify enhancements to product designs.
  5. Create and present comprehensive design solutions addressing business, brand, and user requirements through wireframes and prototypes.
  6. Lead by example in advocating for user-centered design principles, staying ahead of product design technologies and trends, and conducting peer reviews, gather usability feedback, and assess implementations of designs.
  7. Effectively communicate conceptual ideas, design rationale, and user-centered design processes to developers, engineers, product managers, and other cross-functional team members.
  8. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers.

Requirements

  1. 8+ years in product design, specifically for enterprise SaaS, web-based applications, or similar contexts.
  2. Proficient in utilizing Figma, Figma UI Kits, while adhering to established pattern libraries and frameworks.
  3. Demonstrated proficiency in accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0/Section 508 Compliance) with a proven track record of collaborating with developers to address and resolve accessibility challenges.
  4. Demonstrated self-ownership and initiative in exceeding responsibilities to drive impactful outcomes for the product and team.
  5. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Embrace a collaborative, data-driven approach with empathy, fostering effective teamwork through a focus on shared goals and mutual respect.
  7. An online portfolio demonstrating design abilities, thought process, and a strong understanding of client objectives.
  8. Bachelor's in human factors, HCI, graphic design, or a related field.

Base salary is one component of our total rewards strategy. Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is $118,976-$196,872 USD.
