Job Description
Under direct supervision of the Office Manager the candidate will provide assistance to the Borough Commissioner, Deputy Borough Commissioner and Manhattan Borough Commissioner Office (MBCO) staff. The candidate will be engaged in heavy clerical administrative and operational tasks such as preparing reports and memoranda; maintaining personnel files; drafting emails and meeting updates; coordinating trainings; managing the distribution of office supplies. The Clerical Associate will also assist the Officer Manager in managing the calendars for the Borough Commissioner and Deputy Borough Commissioner. The Clerical Associate will help coordinate appropriate needs with other DOT Divisions and Units, such as IT&T, Fleet, Budget, and Personnel. This will include completing, maintaining and filing requisitions and Receiving Reports. The Clerical Associate will assist with overseeing MBCO correspondence, incoming mail, letters and emails, and answer phones and inquiries from agency leadership and staff, elected officials, community leaders, and the general public. The Clerical Associate will also assist with other related duties.
In order to be considered for this position candidate must be either serving permanently in the title, or have filed for the Bridge exam and be reachable on the list when released, or eligible under the 55a program..
Qualifications
Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
