Your primary task in our team will be to become an effective part of a highly professional team that provides consulting, project management, and detailed engineering services on numerous bridge projects. As a mid-level engineer, you will have the opportunity to harness your potential to lead small size projects with an appropriate level of support and guidance from Senior Specialists and Technical Advisors. These development opportunities will prepare you to successfully assume project leadership responsibilities for mid-size projects in a senior role in due course.Your key responsibilities will be to:Lead small size projects or component tasks in complex projects by producing the design of assigned structure, select appropriate structure type, perform analysis and prepare drawing packages. Mentor, direct and supervise junior engineers on such assignments. Complete own work assignments and assignments supervised by you on schedule and to the required quality standard.Interpret and properly incorporate the project design requirements including design codes, and project specific contract requirements to ensure that the design meets or exceeds project standards. Independently prepare engineering reports with oversight from Technical Advisor/Specialist.Coordinate with the CAD team in a reasonably independent manner to prepare drawings with appropriate level of support from Technical Advisor/Specialist.Effectively communicate and coordinate with internal team members and external stakeholders to meet the project needs. Reach out to industries to address project needs.Prepare tender package, including technical specifications, special provisions, bill of materials, and construction drawings with appropriate level of support from Technical Advisor/Specialist.Your skills. And you never get set in your ways but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.On top of that, you will have:A M.S. or higher degree in Structural Engineering, with a minimum of 5 years of related experience in Bridge Design, or an equivalent combination of education and work experienceA Professional Engineer in New York, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employmentExperience with a wide range of bridge and transportation structure types (complex bridge structures would be considered an asset)Familiarity with bridge design codes such as AASHTO LRFD or EurocodeProficiency in the use of analysis programs such as CSiBridge, MIDAS, SoFiSTiK or similar with a thorough understanding of structural behaviors (parametric modeling would be considered an asset)Proficiency in the use of engineering software such as Excel, VBA, and Mathcad to efficiently produce engineering calculations, along with AutoCAD, Microstation, BIM, Google Sketchup, Rhino or other detailing programsExperience with contributing to proposals and fee estimates would be considered an assetA place to work and so much moreAt COWI, we work together with our customers to shape a sustainable and liveable world.
