We are seeking a Cloud Security expert that is inspired to join a team of cyber engineering specialists who are champions of change. We are helping to shape the future of a next generation energy company, as we implement emerging technologies to modernize the grid. We’re looking for a collaborative team member with a passion for implementing innovative cloud computing solutions using the latest cloud computing technologies and solving complex technical problems. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and direction in developing, deploying, and supporting secure cloud architectures and practices. You will be responsible for the evaluation and management of cloud Cybersecurity technologies. You will validate and ensure secure configuration of SCE’s cloud computing and other technology infrastructure environments ensuring Cybersecurity solutions are integrated within multiple cloud & hybrid cloud environments. Your expertise will be critical to ensure SCE’s efforts in Cloud Security Posture Management, API security, container security and many other Grid modernization programs are successful. A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!
- Design, implement and operate advanced cloud security solutions.
- Provide strategic and technical guidance for teams establishing a cloud infrastructure design, migrating data centers to cloud platforms, developing infrastructure as code, and deploying cloud solutions.
- Provide deep technical cybersecurity domain expertise, with respect to cloud security posture management, threat detection and remediation, and Implementation of continuous monitoring.
- Improve the posture of cloud infrastructure designs and align them with strategic objectives and standard methodologies.
- Develop cloud capabilities and evaluate innovative approaches to cloud security enhancements and processes.
- Apply your great communication skills by documenting security procedures, presenting findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, and collaborating with multi-functional teams.
- Apply your systems thinking approach to understand the interconnectedness of various systems, processes, and technologies, enabling you to identify potential security risks and implement comprehensive solutions that address underlying systemic issues, rather than just fixing the symptoms.
- Work closely with multi-functional teams to identify areas for improvement, implement security standard methodologies, and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the organization's security posture.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior security engineers, fostering a collaborative learning environment and promoting the development of their technical and soft skills.
- Lean into DevOps methodologies to champion a culture of collaboration, automation, and continuous improvement by being adaptive and iterative.
- Ensure that security is integrated into the development process, and continuously delivering secure and compliant solutions in a timely manner.
The essentials
- Seven (7) or more years of experience in Information Technology, Information Security, Software Development, or Cybersecurity.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in Cloud Infrastructure in enterprise scale cloud deployments.
- Experience in a technical Cybersecurity subject area.
The preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, Technology, Engineering or related specialized field.
- Possess one or more of the following Information Security certifications: CISSP, GSEC, CRISC, CCSK, CISM, GWEB, GCTD, GCFR, GCPN, or similar professional certifications.
- Possess one or more Cloud Provider certifications or certifications related to Cloud Providers and Services: Microsoft Azure Certifications, Google Cloud Certifications, Amazon Web Services Certifications, GCSA, GPCS or similar professional certifications.
- Experience developing effective documentation and presentations that facilitate decision-making.
- Experience documenting security procedures, presenting findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, and collaborating with multi-functional teams.
- Experience in DevOps and Agile methodologies.
- Experience with Development Tooling: CI/CD pipelines, GIT, Ticketing systems.
- Experience and solid understanding of threat modeling.
- Strong Communications skills with both technical and non-technical audiences including executive/senior leadership teams.
You should know
- This position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
- Relocation may apply to this position.
- The primary work location for this position is Rosemead, CA however, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for a period out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
- Position may require up to 5 - 10% traveling between alternate SCE work location sites.
- This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
